Professional Background

Dr. Moldovan’s research is focused on health-related issues, such as obesity, body image, eating disorders, happiness, aging, and women’s health. She has presented her research findings at scientific conferences and in peer-reviewed journals. In addition to authoring peer-reviewed articles, Dr. Moldovan has experience in grant writing and technical manual writing.

Dr. Moldovan has worked in various clinical settings, including an adolescent partial hospitalization program, college counseling center, and community outpatient clinic. She completed her pre-doctoral internship at I Ola Lāhui, Inc., an APA-accredited, non-profit organization focused on providing effective, culturally-minded interventions for use in Hawaii’s rural and medically underserved communities. Dr. Moldovan completed her post-doctoral residency at Kaiser Permanente in Vallejo, CA, also an APA-accredited site that provided strong generalist and crisis management training. Providing feedback-informed and culturally-sensitive care was embedded in the foundation of both training programs, and Dr. Moldovan collected data to measure the effectiveness of her individual and group interventions. She has been trained in multiple therapy modalities, including CBT, EFT, ACT, and TLDP, and has received specialized training in mindfulness, self-compassion, and EMDR.

Further, Dr. Moldovan has experience in program development and evaluation. She created treatment programs shown to be effective in improving mental health and weight management.

Dr. Moldovan has also assisted with teaching several graduate-level courses, including statistics, psychometrics, evidence-based psychological practices, and mindfulness.

Dr. Moldovan has served as a peer reviewer for various journals, such as Translational Issues in Psychological Science, Clinical, Cosmetic and Investigational Dermatology, and International Journal of Women’s Health. She has also reviewed abstracts as a member of the Scientific Committee for the International Positive Psychology Association Conference.
