Professional Background

Ms. Ajara E. Ledford attended Simmons College in Boston, Massachusetts where she obtained Bachelor’s of Arts in French and Africana studies. Upon graduation she lived and worked in the area for ten years as counselor and advocate for homeless persons. Later, she moved to North Carolina where she gained experience working with adolescents suffering from various psychiatric illnesses and assisted while assisting with research at the University of North Carolina, in the area of eating disorders.

In 2010, Ms. Ledford relocated to San Marcos, Texas to pursue her Master’s degree in Clinical Health Psychology from Texas State University. Her thesis and clinical research focused on mindfulness, unhealthy sociocultural influences on individual behavior, African American women’s health, eating disorders, and health related effects of perceived racial prejudice. As a part her clinical training, Ms. Ledford completed a yearlong internship at Restore FX under the supervision of Dr. Krista Jordan, a functional restoration chronic pain clinic, in Austin, Texas.

Upon graduation she continued her stay there as the clinic’s behavioral health specialist for the next six years, providing clinical assessment, PTSD assessment and treatment, individual psychotherapy, group psychoeducation, mindfulness instruction, and nutrition education and couples psychotherapy.

Ajara became an independently Licensed Psychological Associate in Austin Texas, where she continues to work with the practice of Dr. Krista Jordan and Associates currently treating individuals, Couple Therapy -PACT, Level II Practitioner, Family (Dyadic work) in South Austin & West Lake TX.

Ms. Ledford has completed Levels One and Two training in the Psychobiological Approach to Couples Therapy (PACT). She has extensive experience working with couples using this approach and is passionate about helping couples improve their relationship and thrive as partners. Ajara emphasizes her love for this domain of her practice due to its astounding preventative impacts it has on our youth- “Attend to the roots; Grow healthier shoots.”
