Professional Background

Michael G. Pipich, MS, LMFT, is a psychotherapist with more than 30 years of experience diagnosing and treating bipolar disorder. He is the author of Owning Bipolar: How Patients and Families Can Take Control of Bipolar Disorder (Citadel Press, Sept 2018). Pipich has taught graduate-level courses in diagnosis and psychotherapy, psychopharmacology, and substance abuse and addictions, and provides national professional training in bipolar diagnosis and treatment. He also frequently conducts community-based bipolar educational groups for patients and families.

Pipich was selected as a collaborating investigator by the American Psychiatric Association, performing clinical field trials for the fifth edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5), and is a Clinical Fellow of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists. He holds a Master of Science in Clinical/Community Psychology from California State University, Fullerton, and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Loyola Marymount University, Los Angeles. He practices at the Colorado Center for Clinical Excellence in Denver.
