Professional Background

Anabella Barajas has been a therapist since 2018. She is the founder and owner of a private practice in Maitland, Florida and offers treatment both virtually and in person. Anabella specializes in trauma/PTSD and anxiety disorders in adults and teens. In her practice today, she has a passion working with people who have experienced family-of-origin trauma, perfectionism, and social anxiety.

Prior to opening her practice, Anabella gained specialized experience working with adults and teens struggling with eating disorders and body image struggles. She worked at a facility that exclusively treated eating disorders, and served clients in residential, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient, and outpatient levels of care. Anabella offered individual therapy, group therapy, and family therapy with this population.

In addition, Anabella has specialized experience working with veterans and military personnel. She worked for the Veteran Affairs Medical Center in Orlando FL for 2 years, and worked with veterans who struggled with depression, anxiety, PTSD, and other issues. Anabella utilized multiple evidence-based treatment modalities like EMDR, biofeedback, Cognitive Behavioral therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment therapy with this population.

Within her personal life, Anabella currently practices and performs improv comedy at an advanced level. She began this journey 3 years ago with the intention to expose herself to discomfort, face her own fears, and increase her confidence and ability to take risks. Anabella experienced the powerful healing impact improv had on her own mental health that she now utilizes improv within her practice. She now guides her clients towards liberating themselves by truly being themselves and letting go of the fear of failure with the help of improv.

Anabella is trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapy, IFS (Internal Family Systems), Attachment theory, Biofeedback (HeartMath), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. Anabella is currently in the process of being trained in somatic therapy and psychodrama.

Exposure Therapy for Social Anxiety

Exposure Therapy for Social Anxiety

Exposure therapy is an evidence-based treatment in which a trained therapist guides a person to face a feared social situation until their anxiety decreases and their familiarity or comfort increases. Exposure is delivered by vividly imagining the feared situation, using technology such as virtual reality, role-playing with the therapist, or exposing themselves to the feared situation between sessions.
