Professional Background
Jenelle Coolidge has been part of the mental health industry since 2012 when she was working as Licensed Practical Nurse at a Psychiatric Hospital. It was there she gained vast experience with different populations such as Mood Disorders, Anxiety Disorders, Schizophrenia, and Eating Disorders. Jenelle decided her true passion was to be a mental health counselor and decided to pursue her degree.
As a therapist, Jenelle has gained first hand experience working in community mental health, assisting at-risk individuals with extensive trauma and co-occurring severe psychiatric disorders. Jenelle learned trauma informed care and skills such as trauma focused cognitive behavioral therapy and received her EMDR training during her time here. She also learned how to incorporate DBT and ACT skills in her interventions. Jenelle also worked in the community by going into the clients’ homes and providing intensive therapeutic services for the clients and their families based on their needs.
Jenelle was then given an opportunity in 2022 to focus on her passion and join an eating disorder group practice. In the group practice, Jenelle received training as an eating disorder specialist and gained more extensive techniques to assist clients in their recovery. During this time, Jenelle would also work on-call at the Renfrew Center, one of the nation’s leading eating disorder facilities since 1985. At the Renfrew Center, Jenelle would provide group therapy, meal support, and at times individual sessions.
Jenelle opened up her own private practice in 2023, Cool Skies Counseling. Inspired by her last name and to help remind clients to keep taking it one day at a time or one breath at a time. Jenelle’s practice focuses on eating disorders, complex trauma issues, and chronic, autoimmune, and or pain concerns. Jenelle also has lived experience of an autoimmune disorder and past experience as a former nurse treating patients with chronic health concerns.
