Professional Background

Neha, the founder of We Rise Therapy and Wellness, brings a wealth of expertise and experiences to her role as a mental health writer and advocate. Fueled by a passion to address the lack of awareness and stigma surrounding mental health, Neha established her practice with a specific focus on providing inclusive, culturally sensitive, and evidence-based therapeutic services for South/East Asian and BIPOC women and their families. As a first-generation South Asian woman of color, Neha’s unique perspective allows her to easily connect with the challenges faced by girls and women from minority backgrounds, particularly those in their 20s to 40s.

With a commitment to being a “cycle breaker” and facilitating healing from intergenerational trauma, Neha’s therapeutic approach involves identifying coping strategies, fostering positive change, and enhancing inner strengths. Her calm and professional demeanor, coupled with a warm approach, enables her to establish meaningful relationships and build a strong foundation of trust with her clients. This trust is crucial in creating a safe space for individuals to explore and navigate their mental health journeys.

Neha’s extensive professional background further enhances her credibility as a mental health writer. Having worked in diverse settings such as non-profits, inpatient and outpatient mental health, in-home, and substance use environments, she possesses a nuanced understanding of the complexities individuals face. Her advocacy work extends beyond her practice, as she actively participates in panels, speaking engagements, training sessions, workshops, and more, contributing to the broader conversation around mental health awareness.

Recognizing the interconnectedness of the body, mind, and spirit, Neha adopts an integrative approach to therapy. Drawing from various treatment modalities and techniques, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, she tailors her methods to meet the individual needs of her clients. This personalized approach reflects Neha’s commitment to providing holistic solutions that extend beyond traditional therapeutic practices.

Neha’s academic achievements, including a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a minor in Bioethics from Loyola University Chicago and a Master of Science in Psychology: Clinical Counseling from Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science, underscore her dedication to the field. Neha holds a license as a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of New Jersey.

In addition to her domestic contributions, Neha’s global impact is evident through her volunteer work in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania. Teaching substance use change education and advocating for mental health within the community through culturally tailored interventions, she exemplifies her commitment to mental health on a global scale. Neha’s founding of We Rise Therapy and Wellness in 2019 is a testament to her mission to bridge gaps in mental health services for the BIPOC 1st and 2nd generation population.
