Quillivant XR coupons, discounts, and savings programs can help save on prescription costs. The cost of Quillivant XR depends on your insurance, the dosage prescribed to you, and your choice of pharmacy. Without insurance, the average cost of Quillivant XR ranges from $328-$383. But for those who qualify, a $25 coupon can help bring down the cost. Your cost with insurance will vary based on your policy, but discount cards can reduce your copay. Using Quillivant coupons and getting your prescription by mail order are two other ways to save money.

If you’re considering Quillivant XR, online psychiatry platforms can be a good place to start. Circle Medical works with many major insurance plans and can connect you with a provider quickly. This platform can offer psychiatric assessments and prescription consultation on stimulant medications, which are controlled substances.

Boxed Warning: Methylphenidate (Quillivant XR) - Risk of medication misuse or abuse

Click here to open and close the box warning container.

Methylphenidate, the active ingredient in Quillivant XR, has a black box warning. These are the most serious types of warnings from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Methylphenidate has a risk of misuse (abuse) which can lead to dependence on the medication.

Quillivant XR is a controlled substance, which means that it’s more likely to be misused or cause dependence. There are federal and state laws that limit the amount of medication that can be prescribed or dispensed within a certain period of time.

How Much Does Quillivant XR Cost With Health Insurance?

The cost of Quillivant XR with health insurance depends on the rules and requirements of your policy. Insurance plans can vary in their payment structures, some covering more or less of a specific medication, or not at all without approving specific circumstances. Your plan’s copayments or coinsurance amounts can differ, which can impact your out-of-pocket expenses for Quillivant XR. Talk with your healthcare providers or call your insurance directly to understand what your plan may cover.

Commercial Insurance

Commercial prescription insurance coverage varies depending on the plan you choose as well as the company itself. Some insurances will cover most or all of Quillivant XR, but others may provide very little coverage of this drug. You can contact your insurance provider to better understand your coverage and the expected out-of-pocket costs.

Medicare

Typically, Medicare does not cover Quillivant XR as a first-line treatment. Some plans may require you to try other medications first before they will consider covering Quillivant XR. If you have not tried other medications first, then they will likely not cover Quillivant XR.1 That being said, some Medicare plans may not cover this medication, so it is best to check with your provider for details.

Medicaid

Medicaid coverage varies depending on the state you live in. Largely, Quillivant XR is not covered by many insurance providers, but you can check with your provider to discuss your options if it is not on the formulary. Your doctor may also be able to help as they can work with your insurance should it be necessary.

TRICARE

Quillivant XR may be covered by your TRICARE plan. To check your plan’s coverage, contact the Veterans Affairs (VA) for help. A pre-authorization may be required before TRICARE covers this medication, meaning that the doctor will have to contact the insurance to discuss why you are on this medication. The TRICARE website is also a helpful tool, allowing you to search for what drugs are covered.2

Quillivant XR Coupons & Savings Cards

Quillivant coupons and savings cards can be helpful money saving resources. Discount cards function like regular coupons, lowering the price of a medication when it is applied at the time of purchase. You can obtain a Quillivant coupon or discount card through the mail, online, or at the pharmacy and present them at the time of purchase.

Quillivant Cost Savings Programs

SimpleFill and The Rx Advocates are some of the cost savings programs available for Quillivant XR prescriptions. Some organizations provide information about how to save money on specific medications. Other services assist with the application and enrollment process. To qualify for these savings programs, individuals must apply to and meet certain criteria from each program.

SimpleFill

Simple Fill has a patient assistance program for Quillivant XR. This service helps people qualify and maintain enrollment for savings programs covering many commonly prescribed medications. Patients who are underinsured or not insured can apply for the program on their website.3

The Rx Advocates

The Rx Advocates is an advocacy service that helps individuals apply for patient assistance programs offered by pharmaceutical companies. These programs are only offered for brand name medications since generic medications are typically much less expensive. At this time, Qelbree savings programs are not available on The Rx Advocates, but patients are encouraged to keep checking as program information is frequently updated.4

Quillivant XR Copay Card

A Quillivant XR copay card is available on their company website to those who qualify. To get this card, verify your eligibility by filling out the form on their website, then download the card. If you are eligible for this card, you may pay as little as $25 on each prescription. This savings program can be used for cash-paying patients and for patients with commercial insurance.5

Other Ways to Find Quillivant XR Coupons & Discount Cards

You can get Quillivant coupons and discount cards online, at pharmacies, and via the mail. These are convenient options that may help save money when filling your prescription for Quillivant XR.

Pharmacy Discounts and Savings Cards

Pharmacy chains and retailers may offer discount cards for Quillivant XR, although this availability is not guaranteed. Talk with your local pharmacist about discounts and, if so, how much Quillivant XR may cost with their discount. Sometimes, pharmacies require an active prescription for them to check if they have a discount card within their system, but this may vary depending on the retailer.

Online Resources and Apps

Some websites help connect patients with Quillivant coupons and discount cards. Several of these sites have mobile apps to make it easier to use these discounts. GoodRx, RxSaver, and WellRx are some examples of these sites. Note that Quillivant XR prices on these discount cards can fluctuate day to day, depending on when you fill your medication.

HSA Accounts

A health savings account (HSA) is a part of high-deductible health insurance plans. With an HSA, you can set aside pre-tax money from your paycheck to pay for certain health expenses. This means the money you contribute to this account is not subject to federal taxes, leaving the full amount available for use. Contact your company directly to learn if your Quillivant XR prescription qualifies.6

Ask Your Prescriber for Samples

Your prescriber may offer you samples of Quillivant XR, which would provide a short-term supply of medication. The intent of samples is to provide enough of the medication to try without expense to the patient.

Ask About Getting a 90-day Supply

If you and your prescriber think Quillivant XR may work for you, getting a 90-day supply can save money. Refilling every three months is often less expensive and more convenient than refilling every month. This also lessens the chance of running out before a refill is needed. Mail-order pharmacies typically offer 90-day supplies to cut down on the cost of shipping and supporting multiple physical pharmacy locations.

Fill Your Prescription by Mail-order

Using a mail-order pharmacy is another way to get your medication at a reduced cost. Your provider calls in the prescription directly and your medication is typically delivered to your home within a week or two. Mail-order prescriptions work best for medications that are not temperature sensitive and are used as long-term treatments. 7

How to Get a Quillivant XR Prescription

To get a prescription for Quillivant XR, start by consulting your primary provider to get evaluated for your ADHD symptoms. Your provider may be a physician, nurse practitioner, physician assistant. They may refer you to an ADHD specialist or psychiatrist, if they believe that would be appropriate. A provider doing an evaluation will consider your medical history, medications, and other factors before determining if a Quillivant XR prescription may be suitable.

To get prescribed Quillivant XR online, you will also start by getting evaluated by an online psychiatric provider that can and will prescribe controlled substances. Because of the limitations on prescribing stimulant medications, this process can be challenging. We have used and thoroughly reviewed two such platforms, ADHD Online and Circle Medical, and found them to be helpful starting points for an ADHD evaluation.

Due to potential shortages of ADHD medications, Quillivant XR may not always be available. Your provider may choose an alternative if Quillivant XR is not available or suitable for you.

Quillivant XR Alternatives

For some individuals, Quillivant XR alternatives may need to be considered. Stimulant medications for ADHD work by increasing dopamine and norepinephrine in the brain, which may improve ADHD symptoms related to mood, energy, and attention.8

Nonstimulant medications work differently and it may be several weeks before you feel the full effects. Everyone responds in a unique way to medication, and your age, health history, and previous experience with side effects can have an impact. Your doctor will help to decide which medication may work best for you.

Prescriber’s Tips

Robyn-Tyman-PharmD-headshot Robyn Tyman, PharmD

In my experience, Quillivant XR coupons can be important resources for saving prescription costs. This medication can be an effective and convenient treatment for children, but its cost can be challenging for some families. Quillivant XR can be expensive, even with insurance. While there are discount cards, it is typically best to use the manufacturer savings program as both cash-paying patients and those who have commercial insurance can use it. If you have concerns with paying for your medication, talk with your doctor, as they may have resources that can help.

Discuss medication costs and concerns with your prescriber and what your options are, including the following.

  • Getting a 90-day supply
  • Using a mail-order prescription service
  • Using a generic, if available
  • Medication samples
  • Patient assistance programs
