Relationship Hero is an online coaching platform designed to support both individuals and couples. With over 100 certified coaches, they offer sessions via chat, video, or phone, making it a flexible option no matter where you are.

Pricing varies depending on the coach, with sessions ranging from $100 to $350. However, they don’t currently accept insurance, so keep that in mind when budgeting for sessions.

In some cases, new users may be eligible for a complimentary 10-minute consultation upon signing up. This brief session allows you to speak directly with a coach, providing insight into the process and helping you determine whether their services align with your needs. While availability is not guaranteed, it can be a valuable opportunity for those exploring their options.

For couples looking for other options for therapy or coaching, check our guide on the best online marriage and couples counseling options. Some of our top picks for couples counseling include Regain for cash-pay rates and Talkspace for Couples for those with insurance. For other coaching options, both Our Ritual and Our Relationship are solid options that are both affordable.

Relationship Hero is a great service for couples, but those seeking individual therapy should read our guide on the best online therapy platforms.

What is Relationship Hero?

Relationship Hero connects individuals and couples with over 100 certified relationship coaches, offering flexible online coaching sessions. Prices depend on the coach you choose, typically ranging from $100 to $350 per session, with some offering subscription packages for continued support. While the platform provides a convenient way to access relationship guidance, it’s important to note that they don’t currently accept insurance or offer free trial sessions.

Signing Up

The sign-up process is pretty straightforward. You start with a questionnaire that helps match you with the right coach. It asks about:

  • Your relationship status (single, in a relationship, married, etc.)
  • The kind of support you need (dating advice, rebuilding after infidelity, coping with a breakup, etc.)
  • Whether you’re signing up solo or with a partner
  • Any specific preferences for your coach, such as LGBTQ+ expertise, intimacy coaching, or addiction support

One thing that stood out to me was how broad the options were. Whether you’re trying to move on from an ex, fix unhealthy patterns, or just get better at dating, the platform tries to personalize your experience from the start.

Once the questionnaire is complete, you’re placed in a private chatroom with a coach. Their bio and photo appear on the screen, which gives you a quick way to check their background while chatting.

The coach starts by asking a few more questions to understand your situation. If it feels like a good fit, they’ll outline their pricing and scheduling options. Here’s where things can get a little tricky—each coach sets their own rates and session types. Some offer individual sessions, while others only do subscription packages.

In my case, the first coach we were matched with only provided a four-session package that would have cost a one-time fee of $1,000. This was not in our price range, but fortunately, it was easy to browse the Coaches tab and select someone else. The second coach we chose offered individual sessions, which was a much better fit.

While the flexibility is great, it would have been helpful to see session types and pricing before getting matched. If you’re particular about what you want, you may have to do a little coach-hopping before settling on the right one.

Once you and a coach agree to move forward, they’ll send you their pricing details. Costs vary depending on the coach, with some offering 15-minute consultations while others jump straight into full sessions or long-term packages.

After selecting a session, you’re directed to schedule it, and a Zoom link is sent for the appointment. One thing to note: Relationship Hero doesn’t have a built-in video call feature, so you’ll need Zoom for your sessions.

My partner and I both felt our Zoom session with our coach was excellent. She was warm and insightful, and she quickly grasped the dynamics of our relationship within minutes. As an active listener, she guided us into sensitive topics naturally—never pushing too hard but still fostering meaningful discussion. By the end, she provided us with a clear, realistic action plan tailored to our lifestyle.

The professionalism of the session also stood out. She was on time, dressed appropriately, and in a clean, well-lit environment. The audio and video quality were perfect, making the conversation easy to follow without any distractions.

I particularly appreciated that there was no pressure to book additional sessions or purchase a subscription package. After providing our action plan, she left the decision entirely up to us. Once the session ended, I received a link in our chatroom to leave feedback.

Overall, we were both very pleased with our Relationship Hero experience. The quality of coaching, professionalism, and low-pressure approach made it a valuable and positive experience.

Extra Features

Beyond one-on-one coaching, Relationship Hero offers a few additional tools:

  • Direct Messaging: You can send messages to your coach between sessions, which is helpful if you need quick guidance.
  • Journaling Tool: A built-in space to track thoughts and progress, with the option to share entries with your coach (or keep them private).
  • Master Classes: If you subscribe, you get access to workshops on topics like communication, attachment styles, and conflict resolution.

The journaling feature is a nice touch, especially if you like reflecting in writing. Messaging between sessions also adds some value, though it depends on how responsive your coach is.

Cost

Pricing with Relationship Hero depends on the coach that you are paired with. Sessions typically cost between $100 – $350 each. Some coaches provide subscription options or offer discounts for new clients. Some coaches offer package deals, like 10 hours for $2,200, four hours for $1,150, or a single hour for $295. Again, prices can vary drastically from coach to coach, so finding a pricepoint in your budget may take some time. At this time, Relationship Hero does not accept insurance.

Who Does Relationship Hero Serve?

Relationship Hero is available to anyone 18 or older and serves all 50 states. It’s a great resource for individuals figuring out the dating world or couples looking to strengthen their relationship. The platform is easy to use, and with so many coaches from diverse professional backgrounds, there’s a good chance you’ll find someone who fits your needs.

Many of those reviews come from individuals rather than couples, showing that the platform seems to be widely used for non-romantic relationships as well. The few negative reviews mainly mention isolated scheduling difficulties and relatively high pricing, which are worth considering before signing up.

Why You Can Trust My Review

With nearly a decade of experience in the mental health field, I’ve spent much of my career providing coaching and support to individuals and couples navigating relationship challenges. I understand what makes coaching effective and what clients need to feel supported. My partner and I have used Relationship Hero extensively, giving me firsthand insight into its coaching services—from the initial sign-up process to multiple sessions. I’ve explored how the platform functions, interacted with different coaches, and assessed the quality of their guidance through both a personal and professional lens.

Beyond Relationship Hero, I’ve worked with and reviewed numerous marriage and couples counseling services, spanning both licensed therapy and coaching-based platforms. My background in coaching and relationship support allows me to evaluate Relationship Hero with a critical eye, comparing it to other options and helping you determine if it’s the right fit for your needs.
