ACT Choice Point Worksheet Overview
The choice point is a simple map from acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), created by Russ Harris, Joseph Ciarrochi and Ann Bailey and later updated by Harris. It shows how difficult thoughts and feelings can hook you into away moves, and how unhooking skills and your values can help you choose towards moves instead.
This worksheet explains each part of the map and shows a filled-in example. Then it gives you space to map a situation that keeps tripping you up and to plan one towards move for next time.
In this worksheet, we’ll:
- Explain the parts of the choice point map, from hooks to values
- Walk you through a worked example of a real situation
- Give you space to map your own choice point
- Help you plan one towards move for the next time the situation comes up
