Professional Background

Leah Rockwell, LPC, LCPC, is a licensed professional counselor in Pennsylvania and Maryland and provides online therapy for women largely focused on mothers in the childbearing period of life. Leah’s career began as a Spanish teacher in boarding schools in which she lived with adolescent girls, becoming a de-facto parent to teenagers early in her career while becoming a parent to her own two daughters at the same time. Realizing how much she enjoyed the mental health world of young women, she pursued her master’s degree in school counseling while working in residential life programs and teaching sex education classes to teenagers, focusing on sexuality, gender issues, sexual health, and consent. She later held the position of college counselor at a small women’s college in which she supported emerging adults struggling with life and career transitions, healing from sexual assault and sexual violence, and coping with anxiety and mood disorders.

Leah’s clinical practice, Rockwell Wellness Counseling, supports mid-life and new moms who are struggling with anxiety, identity issues, people-pleasing and codependency issues, and perinatal mental health issues such as postpartum anxiety and postpartum depression. Practicing from a feminist therapy orientation, Leah works with clients on developing mind/body awareness by incorporating polyvagal theory and Internal Family Systems (IFS) techniques.

A divorced and coparenting mom of two, Leah believes that the overall well-being of a family starts with building the mental health of the mother, and she has completed training with Postpartum Support International. She is an active contributor to publications on topics surrounding burnout, parental burnout and the shared load of parenting in modern society, anxiety management, and issues related to systemic support of families, such as paid family leave.
