What Is Therapy Like With Couples Therapy Inc.?
Our experience with Couples Therapy Inc. started off on the right foot, and included a few hiccups, but concluded successfully. After researching and reviewing multiple online couples therapy platforms, I was pleasantly surprised to find that Couples Therapy Inc. offered free phone consultations with real humans, not just chatbots, to help you get started.
The representative from our consultation was professional and kind and answered all of my questions. She helped me feel confident about going with coaching instead of a retreat weekend. I was able to immediately book a session after our phone call, which was easy to do on their website, plus their rep gave me clear instructions on how to access coaching services. Within minutes, I was able to find a coach, who is also a licensed therapist, that specialized in the areas we were seeking.
We were able to book our session within three days of my consultation. Unfortunately, our therapist canceled our session within hours of our scheduled appointment, and we were immediately refunded our money. Because we were going into a holiday week, we couldn’t reschedule for another six days, which was inconvenient for us. While we understand that last-minute emergencies happen, we felt we were ready to talk, and pushing the session back was a bit discouraging.
At our rescheduled appointment, our therapist apologized for having to cancel and offered us a warm welcome. We were able to quickly move on to more substantial discussions. She did a fantastic job of explaining the difference between coaching and therapy and helped us set expectations for the rest of the session. Both my partner and I felt that she showed a strong understanding of our relationship, as well as us as individuals.
She created a safe and inviting atmosphere with her words, and we had no complaints regarding the quality of the video and audio. Our therapist provided us with some valuable Gottman exercises to try in-between sessions, which were relevant to us and our circumstances. She did a great job pinpointing specific areas for us to work on and gave us a helpful action plan. Overall, we felt we had a terrific experience with our therapist, and we wouldn’t hesitate to reach out to her again.
Who Is Couples Therapy Inc. Right For?
Couples Therapy Inc. would be a great choice for those who have busy schedules, couples who are interested in coaching services, and those who may want in-person therapy.
Couples with Busy Schedules
Couples Therapy Inc.’s intensive weekend retreats are specifically designed for couples who need therapy but have busy schedules that don’t allow for weekly, biweekly, or monthly sessions. The point of the intensive weekend is to dedicate a substantial block of time to rebuilding your relationship over a few days, instead of once a week for a few months or maybe even years. A typical intensive weekend is on Friday from 6-8 pm, Saturday and Sunday from 9:30 am-4:30 pm.
Couples Interested in Coaching Services
The online coaching services are a terrific choice for couples that are not quite ready for an intensive retreat but feel they need help setting relationship goals and creating action plans for better communication. If you know that couples coaching is the right choice for you, visit their Couples Coaching page on their website and select a therapist to get started.
Couples Interested in In-Person Therapy
Going to therapy in person could be more beneficial for some couples. Couples Therapy Inc. provides in-person private weekend retreats in select cities. During your consultation, an enrollment coordinator can help you find a therapist who conducts intensive retreats in your vicinity.
Who Might Want an Alternative to Couples Therapy Inc.?
You may want an alternative to Couples Therapy Inc. if you’re looking for support for a non-romantic partnership or if you’re single and looking for dating advice or how to form better relationships.
Non-Romantic Partnerships
When we think of couples therapy, we tend to think of intimate relationships, but couples therapy isn’t just for spouses or romantic partners. Any two individuals, such as friends, siblings, family members, or business partners, may need the help of a therapist to improve communication. If this is something you’re interested in, you may be better served with Talkspace Couples Therapy. They welcome any two individuals who may be experiencing issues.

Dating Advice
While Couples Therapy Inc. welcomes individuals to online coaching, their coaching sessions are explicitly for those who want to learn to be better spouses. It’s not a good fit for those who may have recently gone through a breakup or want tips on how to meet new people. If you’re navigating the single life and you want dating advice, Relationship Hero is an excellent option. You can connect with a coach on the same day of registration, and gain the support you need to build healthy romantic relationships.

Couples Therapy Inc. Online Reviews
Most of the online reviews of Couples Therapy Inc. come from their website, which are typically hand-selected to showcase the most favorable reviews. While these can be quite biased, I read through these testimonials to find common themes that might help you decide if Couples Therapy Inc. is right for you.
Several clients stated that they were pleased to be able to focus on each other without distractions, and many others stated that they were surprised by how quickly their relationship improved over one weekend. I also found one negative review on TrustAnalytica that discusses dissatisfaction with the onboarding process.
Focus on the Relationship Without Distractions
Many reviewers mentioned that they were appreciative of being able to dedicate an entire weekend to their relationship. Without work, kids, or other distractions, they could really focus on rebuilding their connection and devoting all of their attention to each other with the guidance of a licensed couples therapist.
Quick Improvements
Some reviewers stated that they’d tried traditional therapy in the past –going once a week or twice a month over several months with no real results. They were incredibly surprised to experience so much progress in their relationship over just one weekend.
Dissatisfied with the Onboarding Process
One reviewer, not listed on the Couples Therapy Inc. website, wrote at length about the onboarding process and a particular distaste for The BIG BIG Book. They stated that it felt like taking a standardized test, the questionnaire was too generic, and it wasn’t used to guide the first session with their therapist.
Couples Therapy Inc. Vs Competitors
There are plenty of online couples therapy options out there, so let’s take a look at a few of Couples Therapy Inc.’’s top competitors to help you find the right choice.
Couples Therapy Inc. Vs Talkspace Couples Therapy
Talkspace Couples Therapy and Couples Therapy Inc. have some distinct differences. These are two companies that I’ve personally used, and I found Couples Therapy Inc. to be more intensive and hands-on, while Talkspace Couples Therapy is more tech-oriented and requires you to engage through their platform independently.
In addition, Couples Therapy Inc. provides a free phone consultation with an enrollment coordinator to explain how their services work, while Talkspace invites you to jump into the deep end with a subscription package without any onboarding support.
Couples Therapy Inc.’s signature service is their intensive couples weekend retreats, which cost between $3500-$6500. They also have online coaching that starts at $150 per session, but overall costs will depend on the therapist you choose. Talkspace only offers four-session subscription packages for $436 a month.

Couples Therapy Inc. Vs Regain
Regain is an online couples therapy platform that differs from Couples Therapy Inc. in the same ways as Talkspace. Regain is subscription-based and includes 30-minute weekly video therapy sessions, a shared chat room with your therapist and your partner, and access to extra features, like journaling tools and group webinars. Couples Therapy Inc. encourages clients to take the intensive weekend retreat route rather than the once-a-week traditional therapy format.
Regain costs start at $240 – $360 billed monthly (advertised as $60-$90 weekly), with the exact upfront costs depending on your location and therapist availability. Couples Therapy Inc.’s retreats are much more expensive, but you may find a therapist on their platform that offers online coaching that is similar to Regain’s prices. Again, if you’re not ready for a subscription and you want to book multiple sessions, Regain is the right move. Couples Therapy Inc. would be better for single couples sessions or intensive retreats.

Final Verdict on Couples Therapy Inc.
Couples Therapy Inc. is an incredible resource for couples who are open and ready to receive help. They take a more personal approach than other online therapy platforms by offering phone consultations with real representatives, not just chatbots. This gives clients an opportunity to ask questions and discuss expectations. All of their therapists are licensed and have impressive backgrounds and certificates in various couples therapy methods. Overall, I would strongly recommend Couples Therapy Inc.
