Professional Background
Erika’s mental health career began in 1997. Shortly after graduating with her master’s degree, she took her first position doing systemic family therapy with at-risk youth. Erika got her start in the online publishing industry in 2006, when she began creating mental health content for a variety of online publications. She took positions serving families and individuals in outpatient mental health settings as well as doing crisis assessment in her local area through 2013.
During this time, Erika began applying her experience and knowledge to online content creation in a freelance capacity. She authored continuing education modules and contributed consumer content to several mental health authority sites. In 2020, Erika shifted her focus exclusively to online content creation for mental health websites, joining the Choosing Therapy team in 2022.
Currently, Erika is the editor for medication content at Choosing Therapy. She works with expert writers, medical reviewers, and other editorial staff to ensure that medication content is accurate and helpful.
When she’s not editing, Erika cheers on Husker sports teams throughout the year and keeps an eye on the Cornhusker Marching Band during football season.
