At a glance
  • NOCD takes insurance and is in-network with 70+ plans, including Aetna, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare and Optum, Kaiser Permanente in six regions, and many Blue Cross Blue Shield plans.
  • With in-network coverage, most members pay their behavioral health copay, usually $0 to $50 per session. Without insurance, sessions cost $240 for 60 minutes, $180 for 45 minutes, or $120 for 30 minutes.
  • NOCD does not publish a Medicaid or Medicare plan list. Its coverage checker includes a Medicare/Medicaid option, so check your specific plan before assuming it is covered or excluded.

NOCD provides online therapy for people with OCD in all 50 states. Its therapists are trained in exposure and response prevention (ERP), and sessions take place over live video. The service also accepts insurance. Its directory contains more than 100 in-network plan entries, and its January 2026 billing guide says over 9 in 10 Americans with commercial insurance can use their benefits for treatment.

Coverage still depends on your exact plan and state. Check your coverage with NOCD; the check is free and takes a few minutes.

Which insurance plans NOCD accepts

NOCD publishes a state-by-state insurance directory rather than one universal list. Major national carriers are included, but acceptance can vary by state or region.

This information is current as of August 31, 2026, based on NOCD’s insurance directory. NOCD does not mark any plan as refused, so check an absent plan through the coverage tool instead of assuming it is not accepted.

Blue Cross Blue Shield requires an extra check because NOCD lists the plans individually. Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield plans appear for more than a dozen states, along with plans such as Horizon and Empire. If your card says BCBS, look for your specific state plan.

What you pay for NOCD with insurance

With an in-network plan, you pay your behavioral health copay for each session. NOCD’s April 2025 cost guide says most members average $50 or less. Its January 2026 billing guide puts the usual range at “$0-$50.”

Your actual cost also depends on your deductible and your plan’s contracted rate with NOCD:

  1. Your deductible. Payments for NOCD sessions count toward your plan’s deductible. Some plans require you to meet the deductible before coverage begins, so you may pay the contracted session rate out of pocket early in the year.
  2. The contracted rate. NOCD invoices show a “bill rate” sent to your insurer that is higher than the cash rate. Your share is based on the discounted rate your plan negotiated with NOCD.

NOCD says claim processing can take up to 4 to 6 weeks with some plans. Your card on file is charged only after you receive an email notification. Before you commit, NOCD’s Member Advocates can estimate your costs, and the site offers real-time cost estimators for select plans.

What NOCD costs without insurance

NOCD’s published cash rates are $240 for a 60-minute session, $180 for 45 minutes, and $120 for 30 minutes. You have three ways to pay or seek reimbursement:

  • Payment plans. Interest-free plans at $95 or $50 a week spread out the cost without changing the total.
  • Superbills. After paying for a session in full, you can download a superbill and submit it for out-of-network reimbursement if your plan includes those benefits.
  • HSA and FSA. NOCD accepts both for out-of-pocket payments.

NOCD requires a credit card at intake, but it sends an email before charging it. Weekly summary emails combine any outstanding balance, and invoices are available through the billing dashboard.

Late cancellations cost $100, $75, or $50, depending on the session length. One BBB complainant reported receiving these charges while traveling. If your plans change, cancel in the app as early as possible.

For a full pricing breakdown, see our guide to how much NOCD costs.

Does NOCD take Medicaid or Medicare?

NOCD does not publish a Medicaid or Medicare plan list, and its cost and billing guides do not address either program. Its insurance checker does include an “I’m using Medicare or Medicaid” option, which runs your plan through the same process used for commercial coverage.

Use that checker to get an answer for your specific plan. If your Medicaid plan comes back as uncovered and you want to use your benefits, Grow Therapy accepts Medicaid in some states, and Rula accepts Medicaid in many. Both provide general therapy rather than NOCD’s OCD-specialty model.

How to check whether your plan covers NOCD

The coverage check takes a few minutes and happens before you provide payment details:

  1. Go to NOCD’s insurance page and select your location and insurance provider. Check the Medicare/Medicaid box if that is your coverage.
  2. Select “Check your coverage.” Have your insurance card and member ID ready because the intake call asks for them.
  3. Book the free 15-minute call. NOCD’s Member Advocates can verify coverage and estimate your costs for the specific plan.
  4. Ask your insurer directly whether your behavioral health benefit requires only a copay or whether you must meet the deductible first.

Send any other questions to care@nocdhelp.com.

NOCD vs an OCD therapist in your insurance directory

You can also search your insurer’s directory and contact a therapist directly. For OCD care, however, those listings may not lead to an available, in-network provider. A 2023 Senate Finance Committee secret-shopper study found that more than 80 percent of listed mental health providers across 12 Medicare Advantage plan directories were unreachable, not accepting patients, or not in-network. Staff could book an appointment on only 18 percent of calls.1

ERP specialists can also be difficult to find and expensive without coverage. Private ERP therapy costs around $350 per session on average and can reach $500, with most specialists concentrated in large cities.2

A local therapist can offer in-person care and an ongoing relationship in your community. NOCD provides live-video care only. Finding an in-network therapist with ERP training who is accepting new patients is also a good outcome.

NOCD’s own medication guide calls ERP the gold standard treatment for OCD, often alongside medication. Our guide on whether OCD is curable explains how ERP differs from other approaches.

NOCD’s press materials cite more than 250,000 therapy sessions a year,3 and its homepage reports significant results for 74 percent of members. That 74 percent figure comes from NOCD. Check your coverage before booking.

What NOCD members say about billing

BBB rates NOCD A+ and says it has been accredited since late 2024. It also lists 20 complaints closed in three years, including 7 involving billing or insurance. The disputed amounts range from $60 to $4,267.50.4

In the largest case, a member spent about nine months asking about a claim before receiving the full balance in one bill. NOCD acknowledged a follow-up gap and offered a payment arrangement. Another member was billed $1,140 at cash rates after an insurance lapse that the member says NOCD did not flag. In a dispute involving four $100 late-cancellation fees, NOCD credited two and kept two.

The NOCD app has 4.9 out of 5 stars from about 17,000 App Store ratings, with reviews focused mainly on treatment results.5 Verify coverage before the first billable session and again after any job or insurance change. Read the weekly billing summaries so an unpaid balance does not build unnoticed.
