Professional Background

Nicole Kleiman-Reck, LMHC, has over 20 years in the mental health industry. She began her career working as the lead therapist on a Crisis Stabilization Unit. She ran multidimensional therapy groups and worked closely with the severely mentally ill population. Clients were at risk of suicide or had severe thought disturbance. Nicole knows that mental illness affects the whole family and has worked closely with families of those diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder, Schizophrenia, Bipolar Disorder, as well as various Anxiety disorders.

Nicole has spent the majority of her career as an independent provider in the outpatient setting and has spent over 10 years seeing both children and adults. Nicole went into schools and saw children struggling with behavioral and familial stressors on an individual basis. She also ran 2-hour psychosocial rehabilitative therapy groups daily, focusing on Interpersonal Relationships, Communication Skills, Life Skills, Addiction, and Anger Management.

The pandemic was a turning point for Nicole’s career and she fully dedicated her therapy services to the online setting. She loves the opportunity that teletherapy provides, both as a clinician and for her clients. During the pandemic, Nicole earned a certification to serve as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst and works with families of children diagnosed with Autism. She knows how difficult it can be from the parent’s standpoint and serves as a support and educator to help increase the likelihood that the skills being taught to the children are maintained in the home.

Nicole also had an influx of couples seeking her therapy services during the pandemic (married couples, pre-marital couples, dating couples, gay/lesbian couples). Couples’ work is her passion and she has earned 2 levels of certification in Gottman Method Couples Therapy, certification in the live application of the Gottman Method, and also has training in the Developmental Model for Couples. Nicole aims to serve as a bridge for couples and provides non-judgmental feedback while also encouraging each partner to identify the role they play during conflict so each couple can have a more differentiated view of one another in order to maintain change outside of the therapy setting.

Nicole uses an Integrative approach to therapy, applying Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy as the primary interventions when working with both individuals and couples. Nicole is person-centered and makes sure her therapy services are individualized and the interventions used are tailored based on client needs and client’s strengths.
