Professional Background

Tashi Ridley, LCSW is a psychotherapist and co-founder of Illumine Counseling, a private practice in New York City. She is an empathic, client-centered therapist with more than a decade of experience providing counseling services to individuals, couples and families. She honed her skills in health care environments and is particularly adept at supporting clients with the issues that arise over the trajectory of illness, from diagnosis, through treatment, chronic conditions and end of life.

Tashi utilizes a range of modalities, employing psychodynamic, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and mindfulness-based interventions as needed. Her practice orientation is also strongly influenced by her post-graduate relational-systemic training.

She has published and presented on a number of topics such as methods for supporting patients and families in intensive care units, coping with chronic cancer, providing psychosocial assistance for terminally-ill patients and their families, and the impact of beliefs and expectations at end of life.
