ACT Hexaflex Worksheet Overview
The ACT hexaflex is a six-sided map of the core skills in acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), developed by psychologist Steven Hayes and colleagues. Together, the six skills build psychological flexibility: staying present with hard thoughts and feelings while still acting on what matters to you. Research on ACT has found that it helps with anxiety, depression, chronic pain, and other problems.
This worksheet explains each skill in plain words, grouped into ACT trainer Russ Harris's three pairs. You then rate yourself on each one and choose a small step to grow the skill where you feel most stuck.
In this worksheet, we’ll:
- Explain the six processes of the ACT hexaflex and how they fit together
- Show you what being stuck in each process can look like
- Give you a 0 to 10 self-rating for each skill, based on the past two weeks
- Help you choose one skill to grow and one small step to take this week
