At a glance
  • Need a clinician who can diagnose ADHD and prescribe medication? Talkiatry accepts insurance and can prescribe stimulants where state law allows and the clinician considers them appropriate.
  • Want a therapist your insurance covers? Grow Therapy offers virtual and in-person sessions, averaging $21 with insurance.
  • Want an ADHD coach? Shimmer offers weekly 1:1 video coaching starting at $45 a week.

An app can help you practice ADHD skills, but you may want more support than Inflow offers. Perhaps you need a diagnosis, want to discuss medication, or would find it easier to work with someone each week.

Built by ADHD clinicians, Inflow uses cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) principles in five-minute daily exercises, learning modules, ADHD-specific meditations, a peer community, and live body-doubling focus rooms. Its FAQ lists a price of $47.99 a month or $199 a year. Inflow says it cannot diagnose ADHD or prescribe medication, and it does not replace medication or clinical therapy.

Reviews may give people reasons to look elsewhere. Inflow has a 2.7 Trustpilot score, with billing and cancellation complaints dominating the feedback. 1 Reviewers also report missed coaching appointments and modules that require more reading than they can comfortably manage with ADHD.

Talkiatry: ADHD diagnosis and medication, including stimulants

Talkiatry’s licensed psychiatrists provide virtual ADHD evaluations and ongoing medication management for children, teens, and adults. Its ADHD page says clinicians can prescribe stimulants after a thorough evaluation if state law allows and the clinician believes they would be effective. It also recommends CBT-style behavioral therapy alongside medication.

Talkiatry accepts insurance only, with 200+ in-network plans, and accepts FSA/HSA payments. According to its insurance page, most patients pay around $30 a visit. It has no self-pay option and does not accept Medicaid. If you want clinical care and have insurance, check your plan with Talkiatry.

DEA flexibilities allow controlled-substance prescribing by video without a prior in-person visit through December 31, 2026. State law still applies. 2

Be cautious about services that make getting stimulants sound easy. Executives of the telehealth ADHD startup Done were convicted in 2025 over a scheme the DOJ linked to 37 million Adderall pills. Cerebral stopped prescribing controlled substances in 2022 and later paid $3.6 million under a non-prosecution agreement. 3 Talkiatry starts with an evaluation and bills through insurance.

Grow Therapy: insured therapy, online or in person

Grow Therapy is a marketplace of therapists and prescribers across all 50 states. You can filter by insurance and specialty and see prices before booking. Insured sessions average $21, and many providers offer in-person appointments.

Grow works with 125+ plans, but acceptance varies by clinician and state. Check the directory for someone who takes your specific plan.

Its prescribers offer medications such as antidepressants but do not prescribe controlled substances. You would need a separate prescriber for stimulants. If you want to work on ADHD skills with a therapist, filter Grow’s directory by your plan.

Brightside Health: ADHD treatment and Medicaid coverage

Brightside’s psychiatric providers evaluate and treat ADHD. In Arizona, Oregon, and Washington, they can prescribe stimulants to members using insurance when clinically appropriate. Elsewhere, they offer non-stimulant options. Its therapists use CBT to help people manage ADHD symptoms.

Stimulant treatment is available only through insurance. Brightside does not prescribe benzodiazepines, Z-drug sleep medications, or gabapentin where it is classified as a controlled medication.

Psychiatry costs $95 a month, plus your pharmacy copay. Therapy costs $299 a month for four video sessions and unlimited messaging, with extra 55-minute sessions available for $59. The combined plan costs $349 a month.

Brightside is in network with Aetna, Cigna, Ambetter, UnitedHealthcare, and BCBS, covering more than 150 million people. Its Medicaid page says most patients using Medicaid pay $0 a session, an option no other service here matches. It also treats anxiety and depression, which many adults experience alongside ADHD.

Check Brightside’s coverage if you live in one of those three states or have Medicaid.

Talkspace: therapy and medication without stimulants

Talkspace’s self-pay therapy starts at $69 a week. According to our cost page, its plans range from roughly $276 to $436 a month. Self-pay psychiatry costs $299 for an evaluation and $175 for follow-ups. Insured members average $10 to $15 copays across most major plans.

For ADHD, Talkspace offers therapy and non-stimulant medication. Its own content acknowledges that stimulants are a first-line treatment for adult ADHD, but its providers cannot prescribe them. Psychiatry is available to adults 18 and older.

Talkspace may suit you if your main goal is covered talk therapy, with the option to discuss a non-controlled medication.

Shimmer: weekly support from an ADHD coach

Shimmer pairs you with an ADHD-certified coach for a weekly 30-minute 1:1 video session, with text access between sessions. It costs $45 a week for the first four weeks and $60 a week after that. Its 30-day money-back guarantee has engagement requirements.

Shimmer provides coaching only. It does not offer diagnosis, therapy, or medication. A year costs roughly five times Inflow’s annual plan, with the main benefit of paying more is to have someone help you stay accountable each week.

CHADD: free ADHD support and education

CHADD, the national ADHD nonprofit, offers free support whether or not you use another service. Its resources include:

  • A specialist-staffed helpline at 1-866-200-8098, available weekday afternoons ET.
  • Local support groups and the HealthUnlocked online adult community.
  • Free webinars and Ask the Expert sessions.
  • A directory of ADHD professionals.

CHADD provides education and support, but it does not provide treatment.

Is Inflow still worth considering?

Inflow has a 4.4 App Store rating from about 5,600 ratings. Users consistently praise its body-doubling focus rooms and help with building routines. At $199 a year, it is the cheapest structured ADHD skills tool on this page. It also offers free memberships through an affordability program for low-income users and a 50 percent student discount.

The App Store lists lower-priced plans without coaching at $22.49 a month or $95.99 a year, along with coaching plans starting at $29.99 a month. The FAQ’s headline price is therefore at the top of the range.

Inflow may suit someone who is newly diagnosed and wants to practice skills at their own pace. You can use it alongside any of the clinical services above. Our Inflow review covers the app in detail, and our best ADHD apps roundup compares other options.

Billing and cancellation complaints are the main concern in negative reviews. Refunds are available only within 7 days of the first payment, so put the trial’s end date on your calendar before you are charged. If you prefer an app, you can start Inflow’s quiz.

According to the Reddit feedback summarized in our review, people who use Inflow daily generally feel the price is justified. Complaints tend to focus on billing rather than value. The 7-day trial and 7-day refund window give you time to try it, but keep track of both deadlines.

Why not Done or Cerebral?

Click here to open the answer container.Click here to close the answer container.

Done’s founder and clinical president were convicted in 2025 over its Adderall prescribing scheme. 4 Cerebral stopped prescribing controlled substances in 2022 and paid $3.6 million under a non-prosecution agreement. 3 We do not recommend either service.
