AngerMasters is an online educational platform that provides anger management courses designed to meet court-mandated or employer requirements. The curriculum was created by certified NAMA instructors and can be completed at your own pace. Class pricing starts at $24.99 for a 1-hour class and goes to $149.99 for a 52-hour class.

AngerMasters is meant for educational purposes and is not a substitute for counseling or therapy. AngerMasters’ program is tailored to meet national standards on court-ordered or employer-mandated requirements. AngerMasters classes are exclusively self-paced online lessons that you can take at your own convenience from any web browser. Certificates of completion become immediately available to download after you finish the course.

AngerMasters offers a lowest-price guarantee. If you find another course online that’s less expensive, you can contact AngerMasters to receive 50% off the competitor’s price. You may want an alternative to AngerMasters if you’re interested in live classes with an instructor or if you’re solely interested in anger management training for personal development.

AngerMasters earned 4 out of 5 stars from our independent review. However, some complaints on BBB make us a bit wary of the course—a few users couldn’t access the course after paying and couldn’t get a hold of customer service at all.

Getting Started

AngerMasters’ program is tailored to meet national standards on court-ordered or employer-mandated requirements. They even include a state and county search tool on their website to help you confirm that their program will be accepted in your district. AngerMasters offers credits ranging from 1-hour to 52-hour classes. Enrollment verification letters become available once you choose a course, enter your credit card information, and create an account.

You can also take an anger assessment for $29.99, which comes with a letter of recommendation and personalized guidance on which course could be best for you. If you pay for the assessment, you’ll get a 15% discount on the course you sign up for.

AngerMasters classes are self-paced online lessons that you can take at your own convenience from any web browser. There is no time limit for the self-paced courses, so you can finish the program within your own timeframe. However, there’s an option to take weekly classes, and you can sign up for anywhere from a 4-week to a 52-week course.

Lessons are composed of reading assignments and brief exercises. There are no end-of-lesson quizzes or final exams at the close of the courses. As soon as you finish your last lesson, a certificate of completion will be available for you to download.

AngerMasters Class Content

I was able to view outlines for the 4, 8, 12, and 16-hour anger management course content. It was clear that the lessons were current and met NAMA standards. The 4-hour class is an introduction to anger awareness and helps users learn to recognize anger, understand healthy versus unhealthy expressions of anger, and gain coping skills for calming intense emotions.

The 8-hour class expands to identifying triggers and learning about emotional intelligence. The 12-hour class introduces ways to cultivate anger management skills, which include conflict resolution, mindfulness, and stress management. The 16-hour class is a comprehensive look at how to let go of vicious cycles of anger and build healthier habits.

Cost

AngerMasters’ costs start at $24.99 for a 1-hour class and go to $149.99 for a 52-hour class:

  • 1-Hour Class: $24.99
  • 4-Hour Class: $29.99
  • 6-Hour Class: $39.99
  • 8-Hour Class: $49.99
  • 12-Hour Class: $59.99
  • 16-Hour Class: $79.99
  • 18-Hour Class: $89.99
  • 24-Hour Class: $99.99
  • 26-Hour Class: $109.99
  • 30-Hour Class: $119.99
  • 36-Hour Class: $129.99
  • 40-Hour Class: $139.99
  • 52-Hour Class: $149.99

AngerMasters offers a lowest-price guarantee. If you happen to find another course online that’s less expensive, you can contact AngerMasters to receive 50% off the competitor’s price.

You can also use either Klarna or Affirm when paying for your class, which allows you to buy the course but set up a payment plan with no interest if paid back within a few installments.

Who Does Anger Class Online Serve?

While most online anger management companies are designed for court-ordered requirements, AngerMasters emphasizes a guarantee of acceptance in every state, plus most provinces in Canada. The content on its website is primarily aimed at addressing questions and concerns about employer and court requirements, so it’s safe to say that it would be an excellent option if you’re required to take a class for legal reasons or for your job.

Additionally, If you’re someone who gets easily anxious during exams, AngerMasters is a fantastic choice. It’s one of the only online anger management companies out there that does not require participants to pass a test in order to receive a certificate of completion.

User Reviews

While there are very few reviews for AngerMasters online, the Better Business Bureau has given it an F rating, as it has more than five unanswered complaints. Most of the complaints revolve around trying to call to resolve a problem and the phone line ringing twice then disconnecting. Additionally, emails were not responded to at all. Others have started the class but then hit a 404 and weren’t able to finish—then the customers weren’t able to get refunds since no one answered their calls and emails.

Alternatives & Competitors

AngerMasters is only one of many self-paced online anger management courses. It has specific classes for teens and for aggressive driving, so it could be a great option for folks who would find those specific topics helpful. However, two of our other favorites are Open Path, which offers tons of classes for self-development for a registration fee of just $4.99, and Valley Anger Management, which offers courses that include some live instruction.

Open Path - Lowest Cost Option

Open Path Logo
Rating:
Overall rating of 5 out of 5 possible.
(5 out of 5)

Price: $4.99 registration fee, then $17–$115 for certificates

Open Path and Anger Management Training Institute are both self-paced online programs created by experts, and their courses can be used for court-ordered purposes or employer requirements. However, Open Path also includes other courses that may be court-ordered, like Parenting 101 or Drug & Alcohol classes. Open Path also includes personal development classes that cover topics like nutrition and mindfulness.

Another big factor that sets Open Path apart from the Anger Management Training Institute is the price. For only a $4.99 registration fee, you can access all of Open Path’s court-ordered and personal development courses, making it an excellent option for those on a budget. You only pay extra for a certificate of completion, which starts at $17.00 for a 4-hour class and goes up to $115 for a 52-hour course. These are some of the best prices we’ve seen.

Valley Anger Management - Best for Live Instruction

Valley Anger Management Logo
Rating:
Overall rating of 5 out of 5 possible.
(5 out of 5)

Price: Costs start at $65 for an 8-hour self-paced class and $31 per session for live Zoom classes.

Valley Anger Management offers online anger classes for personal or professional development and court requirements. Courses are designed and taught by certified anger management counselors. They offer in-person, self-paced, Zoom group meetings and individual anger management training. Costs start at $65 for an 8-hour self-paced class and $31 per session for live Zoom classes.

Valley Anger Management is quite comparable to AngerMasters in the sense that they both provide online anger management programs that can be used to fulfill court requirements. However, AngerMasters only offers self-paced online classes, and Valley Anger Management offers both self-paced and live instructor-led classes via Zoom.

AngerMasters doesn’t require students to take a test when they complete the program, while Valley Anger Management does require students to take a final exam in the self-paced class and participate in an exit interview in the Zoom class. Valley Anger Management is slightly more expensive, with costs starting at $65 for an 8-hour class. If you’re interested in live instruction, Valley Anger Management is a great choice, but if you need a certificate of completion quickly, AngerMasters could be a better option.

To learn more about their program, check out our in-depth review of Valley Anger Management.

Why You Can Trust My Review

“After taking a thorough look at all the available options for online anger management courses, AngerMasters is definitely a suitable choice. The curriculum is solid, and it makes it easy to obtain a certificate of completion as quickly as possible.

I would recommend AngerMasters for those who need a court-accepted program, but I wouldn’t necessarily promote its services if you’re looking to boost conflict resolution or anger management skills simply for personal development. AngerMasters’ program is more targeted toward court-mandated requirements.”

AngerMasters is a legitimate company that provides guarantees of service in its terms of conditions. However, there’s not a lot of information out there about the company’s ownership, developments, or background. I reached out to the company for comment on their evolution but have not heard back at this time.

Since our review in 2024, AngerMasters has added an Anger Assessment for $29.99, plus Buy Now, Pay Later payment plans through Klarna and Affirm, making the courses more accessible for more users.
