- Without insurance, Grow Therapy sessions typically run $100 to $200+ per its cost pages, and its broader guide quotes a $75 floor. However, each provider sets their own cash rate, shown on their profile before you book (confirmed by Grow, September 8, 2026).
- There is no subscription, and no platform or membership fee appears on Grow’s pricing pages: you pay per session, charged to your card within 24 to 48 hours afterward.
- Providers may charge up to $200 for a no-show or a cancellation within 24 hours, and insurance does not cover.
Grow Therapy is a directory of more than 19,000 licensed therapists and prescribers across all 50 states. Psychiatry and medication management run through the same marketplace, with prescribers filterable like therapists. There is no subscription. You book a provider, and each session bills at that provider’s rate. Without insurance, the rate you pay is the one on the provider’s profile. Browse Grow’s directory. While price varies by provider, the cash prices are visible before you commit.

As of August 31, 2026, from Grow Therapy’s pricing pages and help center. The $75 floor and $100-$200+ range are both Grow’s own published figures, from different pages. Open Grow’s directory and any provider profile shows that provider’s exact rate.
How the billing works
Cash-pay is automatic: your card on file is charged your provider’s self-pay rate after each session, processing within 24 to 48 hours, with an email titled “Your Upcoming Payment” landing 36 hours before any charge and a receipt after it. Sessions bill at the provider’s listed rate unless you arranged a different one in advance. If you carry insurance Grow does not accept for a particular provider, self-pay applies only to that provider; your insurance details stay on your account for others. Grow also tells clients not to pay through their insurance portal, since it handles all billing directly.
No-show and late cancellation fees
The terms of each provider’s fee policy are in front of you before you book. A late cancellation is any cancellation 24 hours before the appointment, and a no-show means not joining within 15 minutes of the start time. Either can cost up to $200. Your provider sets the amount, and it shows in the “Worry-free booking” section when you book. Insurance never covers these fees. Disputes have a 30-day window and refunds sit at the provider’s discretion.
Grow’s BBB profile shows 202 complaints over three years, 43 of them billing, including no-show fees the client disputes (“The provider showed and I no showed. It is a lie”) and insurance estimates far below the charge: one member quoted $25 per session was charged about $140, another quoted $0 was charged $350.1 Those are insurance-estimate disputes rather than cash-rate ones. Either way, document the rate or estimate you were shown before the first session.
What medication management costs
Grow publishes no flat psychiatry rate anywhere. Prescriber visits follow the same model as therapy, with the rate on the prescriber’s profile, so check before booking.
Ways to pay less
- Sliding scale. Grow lists self-pay and sliding scale options with no published eligibility criteria; the scale is set per provider. Ask the provider directly what they offer and who qualifies.
- Superbills. For self-pay sessions you can request a superbill from your provider and submit it to your insurer for possible out-of-network reimbursement.
- HSA, FSA, and EAP. All three are accepted payment methods.
- Your insurance, if any provider takes it. Grow works with 125+ plans including Medicaid in the states where it is live, verifies your Member ID at booking, and shows an estimated cost up front; insured sessions average $21 and insurance claims take 3 to 4 weeks to settle.

Is it worth it without insurance?
Grow’s cash range matches the market: a March 2025 cost roundup by TherapyDen puts US therapy without insurance at $100 to $200 a session on average, spanning $65 to $250 for a 45-to-60-minute appointment.2 At the same price, Grow lets you filter profiles and see rates before booking, and you pick your own provider. Therapy and medication management are in one place.
The per-session arithmetic, using a $120 provider as the worked example: twice-monthly therapy costs $240 a month and weekly therapy $480 to $600 at cash rates. At the $75 floor, a weekly month runs $300 to $375. The same weekly cadence with an accepted insurance plan at Grow’s $21 average is about $84 to $105 a month, which is why Grow’s own marketing credits insurance users with 78 percent savings against standard therapy costs. Rula, the closest like-for-like competitor, charges a flat $150 cash for individual therapy, inside Grow’s range with less variance; a weekly month there is $600. The attendance-based structure is also why the no-show fee matters: at up to $200, a missed session can cost more than an attended one. Talkspace prices differently, $69 a week for its messaging-only subscription whether you attend or not, so it suits weekly-or-more use while Grow’s pay-per-visit model favors lighter cadences.
Our Grow Therapy review covers the full experience, and our Grow Therapy vs BetterHelp comparison sets the pay-per-session model against the biggest subscription platform.
What cash-pay users report
Grow holds a 4.7 Trustpilot rating from 8,293 reviews, alongside an A+ accredited BBB profile. Billing transparency draws specific praise (“they clearly outline your patient responsibility after coverage, so there are no surprises”) along with payment flexibility, and the recurring gripe is support speed on urgent billing questions.3
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Grow Therapy cheaper than BetterHelp or Talkspace?
Grow has no subscription, so the cost tracks your attendance. Light cadences cost less than any subscription, while weekly cash therapy at $100 to $200 a session costs more than Talkspace’s $69-a-week messaging plan. With an accepted insurance plan, Grow’s $21 average is hard to beat.
Does Grow verify my insurance for me?
Yes. Per its insurance pages, Grow asks for your plan information, checks whether your insurance is accepted, and gives a cost estimate, which its help center calls the easiest way to check eligibility.
Does Grow Therapy have a subscription or membership fee?
No. Grow is pay-per-session with no membership, platform, or intake fees documented on its pricing pages. Stopping is just not booking again; there is no plan to cancel.
Can I see the price before I book?
Yes. Each provider’s self-pay rate is listed on their profile in the marketplace, and the no-show/cancellation fee shows in the Worry-free booking section at checkout.
How much is Grow Therapy psychiatry without insurance?
Grow publishes no flat psychiatry rate. Prescriber visit costs follow the same per-provider model, so check the rate on the prescriber’s profile before booking.
Does Grow Therapy offer a sliding scale?
Grow lists sliding scale as available; it is set provider by provider, so ask the provider whether they offer one and what qualifies.
What happens if I miss a session?
Not joining within 15 minutes counts as a no-show, and cancelling under 24 hours ahead counts as a late cancellation; your provider can charge up to $200 for either, insurance will not cover it, and disputes must be filed within 30 days.
When exactly am I charged?
Within 24 to 48 hours after each session, at the provider’s rate, with a “Your Upcoming Payment” email 36 hours before any charge and a receipt after it processes.
How do superbills work at Grow?
You request one from your provider after a self-pay session and submit it to your insurer for possible out-of-network reimbursement. Nothing is guaranteed; plans without out-of-network benefits will not pay.
Are there any fees beyond the session rate?
None documented on Grow’s pricing pages beyond the provider-set no-show and late-cancellation fees. There is no membership, platform, or intake fee.
Can I switch from self-pay to insurance later?
Yes. Self-pay only affects sessions with providers who do not accept your plan, and your insurance information stays on your account.
