Professional Background

Karen Carloni is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the states of Maryland and South Carolina. She is also Nationally Certified in both Counseling and Rehabilitation. She has served as the Executive Director of Southern Maryland Community Network since 2014 where the organization serves the needs of the public behavioral health system in a three county ex-urban area. She was previously in private practice with Synergy eTherapy where she provided teletherapy for youth and adults. She earned her Bachelor’s of Science from the University of Florida in Psychology in 1989 and her Masters in Counselor Education from the University of South Florida in 1993.

Karen has served in Program Management, Development, Clinical Services and as a Deputy Director in community mental health settings in Maryland since 2000. She is experienced in Motivational Interviewing, Person Centered Planning and CBT. She currently serves as the Secretary of the Board of Directors for both the Community Behavioral Health Association of Maryland and as the Treasurer of the Maryland Behavioral Health Solutions Provider Network.
