At a glance
  • To cancel one appointment, open Next appointment in your portal dashboard, then select Edit and Cancel. You can also use the Appointments tab or the iOS app. Grow requires 24 hours’ notice. Inside that window, the cancellation option is blocked, so message your provider instead.
  • Your provider, not Grow, sets the fee. It can be as high as $200 for a no-show or a cancellation within 24 hours.1 A no-show means you did not join within 15 minutes of the start time. Insurance does not cover either charge.
  • You pay nothing up front, so there is nothing to prorate. To request a refund, raise a dispute within 30 days of the charge. If approved, the refund returns to your payment method in 5 to 10 business days.2

Canceling Grow Therapy sounds like one task, but the platform separates it into three: canceling an appointment, ending care with a provider, and deleting your account. Grow is a marketplace of independent providers who bill per session, so there is no single platform-wide no-show fee. The steps below help you choose the right path without accidentally leaving an appointment on the calendar.

Before you cancel Grow Therapy: identify what is not working

Before you cancel, take a minute to pinpoint what is pushing you to leave. A surprise bill calls for a different response than a poor provider fit. The five situations below each have a different next step.

The bill is higher than the estimate

Nationally, 59.8% of adults with an unmet mental health need said treatment cost too much.3 On Grow, the bill can arrive weeks after the appointment because your card is charged only after your insurer settles the claim. Billing is the biggest theme in Grow’s Better Business Bureau file. In 2026 complaints, clients described a $25 estimate followed by a charge of roughly $140, and a $0 estimate followed by a $350 charge.4 Grow suggests moving to biweekly or monthly sessions when cost is the issue. Providers set their own self-pay rates, which range from about $75 to more than $200 per session, and Grow does not offer a platform-wide hardship program. To update your insurance plan, go to Account, My Coverage, Edit, Verify coverage, then Save. Rula is in network with most major plans and charges $150 per session for cash pay. Talkspace sells weekly plans for $69 with messaging or $99 with video.

The provider is not the right fit

Clinicians consider feeling unheard or being canceled on repeatedly valid reasons to switch. On Grow, switching is free and there is no limit. You can book any provider in the marketplace who has an opening, use a referral link from your current provider, or call the Client Success Team at (929) 502-2635 on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. ET.5 Booking someone new does not cancel appointments with your old provider. Cancel those sessions yourself, or the late fee applies to each one.5 Grow expects providers to respond within one to two business days and tells clients to escalate after 48 hours. Its homepage says more than 90% of clients find the right provider, but it does not give a date or explain the method behind that claim. Our Grow Therapy employee review looks at the therapist’s side of the platform.Rula’s Replace provider option automatically cancels future appointments with your old provider.

You feel finished, or you feel stuck

Therapy often ends when you have met your goals and sessions are no longer bringing up much that feels new. If months pass without progress, a different approach or clinician may be a better next step.Grow’s guidance says feeling better does not automatically mean you are done. It also says you do not need anyone’s approval to stop. Feeling tired for a day or two after a difficult session is common. Tell your provider if you continue to feel worse. If you feel unsafe or are thinking about harming yourself, call or text 988 to reach the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline. Grow Therapy appointments are scheduled in advance and are not emergency care.

Your location or schedule has changed

Your provider must be licensed in the state where you are physically located during the session. After a permanent move, you can keep the same provider only if they are licensed in both states. Your care must end or transfer before you can change your address. While traveling, a provider who is not licensed in that state cannot treat you there. Insurance may not cover the session even when the provider is licensed there.Among U.S. adults with an unmet mental health need, 47.0% cited a lack of time.3 Grow sends reminders 24 hours and one hour before each session. Medication visits must be booked 24 to 48 hours in advance.Talkspace centers care around messaging, with live sessions available on top of that, and its pauses last seven days at a time. Online-Therapy.com is a monthly CBT subscription that you cancel through your account settings, with a pause option lasting one to four weeks.

You want to quit after a hard session

Among adults with an unmet mental health need, 70.5% said they thought they should handle the problem alone.3 Clinicians read the urge to stop in the days immediately after a difficult session as avoidance of the material. Dreading every appointment raises a question about fit and safety. You can also pause instead of stopping. Ask for a pause by message. As long as no appointments are on your calendar, you are not charged during the pause.6 Support can contact your provider if you would rather not do it yourself.

How to cancel a Grow Therapy appointment

Canceling one session does not end care with your provider or delete your account. Each action has its own process.

Cancel one appointment on the web or in the app

To cancel your next session on the web, open the dashboard and select Next appointment, Edit, Cancel, choose a reason, then Continue. For a later appointment or a repeating series, open Appointments in the left-side menu, find the session under Upcoming, select Edit, then choose Cancel this appointment or Cancel all upcoming repeating appointments. In Grow’s iOS app, its only app, tap the three-line menu, Appointments, the three-dot More icon, then Cancel appointment.Rescheduling closes within the same 24-hour window. If you cannot complete the reschedule in time, it may count as a late cancellation.1 Grow’s client FAQ says that logging in only to say you cannot stay counts as a no-show. Its provider guidance says a client who joins, even briefly, should not be charged. Those two articles conflict.Use the portal to cancel. Grow says a text message or personal email may not be logged.

Stop care with your provider

First, cancel every appointment still on your calendar because any booked session can still be charged. Then message your provider and tell them you are stopping care.6 You do not need to delete your account to stop charges, and ending care takes effect immediately. Session recaps remain available for 60 days after you stop, while your medical record stays on file.

Delete your Grow Therapy account

Account deletion is a separate request, and there is no self-serve button. In the client portal, open the Help Widget in the bottom-right corner, select Send us a message, and send the words “Account Deletion”. Support first checks for scheduled appointments and outstanding payments. Grow does not publish a turnaround time.Health records are archived for 10 years under legal retention requirements. Only a primary parent or guardian can delete a minor’s account.7 Deletion cannot be undone, and you must delete the account to remove your saved card. To request records, contact your provider. If the provider has left, email records@growtherapy.com with a signed release. Records requests can take up to 30 days.

Grow Therapy fees and refunds

Late-cancellation window Less than 24 hours before the start
No-show trigger Not joining within 15 minutes of the start

Emergency waiver Documentation such as a medical note or weather alert within 14 days; the provider decides
Dispute deadline 30 days from the charge or the charge notification
Refund timing 5 to 10 business days to the original payment method
Payment timing Self-pay charges process 24 to 48 hours after a session; insurance-based ones follow the insurer, about 3 to 4 weeks

These rules reflect Grow’s fee FAQ, refund article, and provider fee guidance as of September 22, 2026.147Start a dispute with your provider. Within 30 days, send the date, charge amount, reason, and any supporting documentation using Grow’s template.2 If the provider waives the fee, support updates your account. If the provider declines or does not respond, support reviews the charge against Grow’s Practice Policies. Those policies also allow Grow to drop clients who repeatedly miss appointments.8 As of September 22, 2026, Grow averages 4.6 out of 5 from 8,418 Trustpilot reviews. It is BBB accredited with an A+ rating and has 197 complaints over three years.4 Complaints describe fees ranging from $25 to the full $200, along with disputes involving emergencies without qualifying documentation, appointments clients say they never booked, sessions the provider missed, and technology failures on the client’s end.9 Our Grow Therapy review has more detail.

Reporting a Grow Therapy provider no-show or cancellation

Ten minutes after the appointment starts, a pop-up lets you report a provider no-show. If it does not appear, use the Help Widget to contact support.10 You are not charged for that session. If a charge appears anyway, report it to support.Grow’s policy does not offer a credit, discount, or free session. It offers a reschedule through portal messages or a rematch if the same provider keeps missing appointments.10 Grow can also cancel appointments because of insurance or payment problems, and reviewers report receiving some of those cancellations on the day of the appointment.

Prescriptions and refills before you leave Grow Therapy

This article is for information only and is not medical advice. Talk to a doctor or licensed clinician before starting, stopping, or changing any treatment.Ask about refills before canceling any appointments. Grow asks clients to submit requests at least one week before they run out and warns that a provider may require a visit first, especially after a gap of several months.11 Grow does not publish a bridge-prescription policy or a discharge-refill rule for clients who leave. For urgent situations, including running out of medication, Grow says to call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room. National guidance warns against stopping medication on your own because suddenly stopping can bring the original problem back.12

Alternatives if you decide to leave Grow Therapy

Booking another provider on Grow means paying that provider’s rate or copay, which is usually less than starting over somewhere else.5A missed-appointment fee you can know in advance.

Rula review explains Rula’s platform-wide fee: $99 for therapy and $150 for psychiatry when you miss an appointment or cancel within 24 hours.Psychiatrist-led medication care with a published refill rule.

Talkiatry publishes the refill rule that Grow does not. A coverage appointment more than 30 days out produces a bridge prescription, and Talkiatry accepts insurance only.Messaging between sessions and a pause option.

Talkspace lets clients pause out-of-pocket plans, but not insurance, EAP, or psychiatry plans. Deleting your data does not cancel the subscription.Cancellation through account settings, plus financial aid.

Online-Therapy.com has no minimum commitment. You keep the days you have already paid for, and financial aid is available for students, veterans, and people with low incomes.

To cancel one session, open it under Next appointment or the Upcoming tab in the portal, select Edit, then choose Cancel. The iOS app follows the same route. Grow has no subscription. To end care altogether, cancel every booked appointment and message your provider.

What is Grow Therapy’s no-show or late cancellation fee, and is there a grace period?

Click here to open the answer container.Click here to close the answer container.

Your provider sets the amount and can charge up to $200 for a no-show or a cancellation within 24 hours. Grow does not publish a grace period inside that window or a first-offense waiver, although the provider can waive the fee. Insurance never covers it. Medicaid and several Kaiser plans do not allow it, Magellan caps it at $90, and Cigna claims processed through Evernorth carry a set $100 fee.

Can I dispute a Grow Therapy cancellation fee or get a refund?

Click here to open the answer container.Click here to close the answer container.

Yes. Submit the dispute within 30 days of the charge or the charge notification. Message your provider with the date, amount, and reason. If the provider declines or does not respond, support reviews the dispute. An approved refund returns to the original payment method in 5 to 10 business days.

How do I cancel or delete my Grow Therapy account?

Click here to open the answer container.Click here to close the answer container.

Canceling care and deleting your account are different actions. You only need to end care to stop future session charges. To delete the account, open the Help Widget in the client portal, select Send us a message, and send the words “Account Deletion”. Your health records remain archived for 10 years.
