Rula Health (formerly Path Mental Health)3 is an online therapy platform offering individual, couples, and family counseling. In our independent review, it earned 3.5 out of 5 stars for its accessibility and range of services. With Rula, you can attend live 60-minute sessions via Zoom with a provider chosen from a curated list of licensed therapists in your state.
Rula is available nationwide and accepts several major insurance plans as well as self-pay appointments starting at $150 per session. While the user interface and sign-up process were a bit tricky, I recommend Rula is a good option for a wide range of therapy services.

All live sessions are typically 60 minutes long and held via Zoom, but can be adjusted based on patient/provider preferences.
Rula accepts commercial plans from most major insurance carriers, and patients typically pay a $15 copay per session. Without insurance, Rula offers a cash rate of $150/session for individual therapy and $165/session for families or couples. The cash rate for psychiatry sessions is $350 for an initial 60-minute intake session and $150 for 30-minute follow-up sessions.
A unique offering from Rula is its family therapy option. Not all online therapy platforms offer this, with most platforms focusing on individual and couples therapy.
Rula is a good choice if you have an insurance plan that’s in-network with it. If your plan isn’t, you should try looking into Grow Therapy or Brightside Health, which both accept many insurance plans, including some Medicare and Medicaid. Individual Talk Therapy
Getting started with Rula was fairly straightforward, though many of the links they sent were time-sensitive. I had to reach out several times to request new links to browse therapists and complete patient forms. Once I had access, I was able to find and connect with a therapist quickly. I received a list of available providers, some with openings as soon as the next day.
The day before my therapy session, I was emailed a Zoom link, and at the time of my appointment, I simply clicked that link and was sent to my private Zoom meeting. It was a very easy process and I had no issues getting into my live session. My therapist was on time, and the video and audio quality were great. After just 20 minutes, I felt safe, supported, and truly listened to by my therapist. At the end of our session, they gave me reasonable homework to complete independently and we were able to schedule my next session while on the call.
Family Therapy
A unique offering from Rula Health is their family therapy option. Many online therapy platforms don’t include this, as most concentrate on individual and couples sessions. Family therapy with Rula costs $165 per session cash-pay and with several insurance plans accepted as well.
Psychiatry
Rula Health recently expanded its psychiatry offerings to all 50 states. Clients can follow the same model as therapy on the platform to meet with a psychiatrist and get a range of medications if determined appropriate. However, Rula must follow state guidelines as far as prescribing controlled substances such as stimulants like Adderall and Ritalin and benzodiazepines like Xanax. Know your state’s laws before seeking out these medications from an online platform like Rula.
Cost & Insurance
Rula Health costs $150 for an individual therapy session and $165 for a family or couples therapy session. All sessions are approximately 60 minutes long but can be adjusted based on patient/provider preferences. If Rula accepts your health insurance, your costs will be whatever your co-pay is for therapy, typically Between $0–$50 per session. Rula psychiatry costs $350 per session for an initial evaluation, and then $150 per session for follow-ups.
Per-session cash-pay rates for Rula services are:
- Individual therapy – $150 per session
- Couples or family therapy – $165 per session
- Psychiatry initial evaluation – $350 per session
- Psychiatry follow-ups – $150 per session
