Getting Started

Once you choose your credit-hour course, create an account, and pay for your class, you gain access to the Anger Management Training Institute’s online platform. All the classes are self-paced, meaning there are no live video lessons, and you complete the course at your own convenience from any web browser. Keep in mind that the course expires in 90 days.

Each lesson ends with a quiz that you must pass with an 80% score or higher. You can take each quiz as many times as necessary to achieve a passing score. Once you pass each quiz, you’ll be given a “lesson key” that allows you to continue where you left off and access the subsequent lesson. Once you complete all the lessons, you can download a certificate of completion for free.

Course Content

The Anger Management Training Institute bases much of its content on the founder’s best-selling book, The Anger Busting Workbook: Simple, Powerful Techniques for Managing Anger & Saving Relationships, which was published in 2005.

Lessons cover key areas of anger management education, including:

  • Consequences of anger
  • Identifying triggers
  • Tools and techniques to ease aggressive thoughts and behaviors
  • Communication skills
  • Understanding the fight-or-flight stress response

A significant part of understanding how to change anger is learning how this emotion affects us physically, emotionally, and mentally, and this curriculum meets those standards.

However, it is important to note that Baker’s workbook hasn’t been updated since 2005. If the Anger Management Training Institute continues to base its entire program on this workbook, I fear that the content may be outdated and real-world examples or activities may not be as relevant in today’s world.

Cost

Anger Management Training Institute costs $65.00 for its 8-, 16-, and 24-hour courses. All courses are priced the same regardless of the credit hours, with no additional costs or fees.

Who Does Anger Class Online Serve?

The Anger Management Training Institute’s curriculum was designed to meet court-ordered requirements nationwide. It states that the program has been accepted in all 50 states and all Canadian provinces. It even offers a guarantee that the program will be accepted and will provide full refunds if your district does not accept your certificate of completion. Classes can also be used for professional purposes if your employer requires you to attend anger management training.

The Anger Management Training Institute could be a great fit for those who need certificates of completion for professional or court-ordered requirements and men struggling with anger (the back half of the course is geared toward men).2 It was not designed for those under 18.

The Anger Management Training Institute is one of the few platforms that also offers a program for mental health professionals. Its Certified Anger Resolution Therapist (CART) program is designed for counselors, probation officers, pastors, social workers, and anyone in the mental health field who is interested in helping others deal with anger. This course is available for $345 and may be eligible for up to 12 CEUs.

Alternatives & Competitors

Anger Management Training Institute has a strong educational program and reasonable rates, but it’s not the only company offering these services. Below you’ll find a brief comparison between Anger Management Training Institute and its competitors.

Anger Class Online and the Anger Management Training Institute are both platforms for people who need anger management for court-ordered or employer requirements. Anger Class Online offers nine class options with different credit hour amounts, ranging from a 4-hour course to a 52-hour course. The Anger Management Training Institute only offers three options (8-, 16-, and 24-hour classes). When it comes to price, Anger Class Online is a bit more expensive, with a starting cost of $95.00 for a 4-hour course. Overall, both companies offer a guarantee that their programs will be accepted in courthouses nationwide.

Open Path Anger Management - Most Affordable

Open Path Logo
Rating:
Overall rating of 5 out of 5 possible.
(5 out of 5)

Price: $4.99 (one-time registration fee), then $17–$115 for a certificate

Open Path and Anger Management Training Institute are both self-paced online programs created by experts, and their credit-hour classes can be used for court-ordered purposes or employer requirements. However, Open Path also includes other courses that may be court-ordered, like Parenting 101 or Drug & Alcohol classes. Open Path also includes personal development classes that cover topics like nutrition and mindfulness.

Another big factor that sets Open Path apart from the Anger Management Training Institute is the price. For only a $4.99 registration fee, you can access all of Open Path’s court-ordered and personal development courses, making it an excellent option for those on a budget. You only pay extra for a certificate of completion, which starts at $17.00 for a 4-hour class.

Why You Can Trust My Review

“After reviewing all the current online offerings available in the anger management space, the Anger Management Training Institute is a decent option for those needing a court-ordered, self-paced course. It provides evidence-based techniques and strategies for controlling anger from its text, The Anger Busting Workbook: Simple, Powerful Techniques for Managing Anger & Saving Relationships. There are plenty of helpful and applicable lessons in their curriculum. However, this workbook was published in 2005 and hasn’t been updated, meaning that its examples and even some of the key materials will feel quite outdated.

While you can easily register and complete this program in a matter of hours to quickly receive a certificate of completion, I wouldn’t necessarily recommend their courses for those looking for current anger management methods.”
