- In the US: Yes. Start on the English site and choose Spanish at “What is your preferred therapy language?” near the end of the questionnaire. You can also use the Language filter in BetterHelp’s therapist directory. Paying out of pocket costs $70 to $100 a week, about $260 to $400 a month.
- In Spain: BetterHelp’s website in Spanish, betterhelp.com/es, serves Spain. Therapy with Spanish psychologists costs €45 to €80 a week.
- In Mexico: Mexico appears in the country dropdown, but BetterHelp does not list it among the countries it serves. The signup directs users in Mexico toward therapists who speak English.1
Finding a therapist you can speak with comfortably matters, especially when you are talking about something personal. If you want therapy in Spanish through BetterHelp, the signup process depends on where you live. In the US, you request Spanish through the English website. BetterHelp’s website in Spanish is set up for its service in Spain.
Spanish is one of 12 therapy languages in the US signup questionnaire. BetterHelp matches adults with a licensed therapist for weekly video, phone or live chat sessions, with messaging between appointments. Under its terms, members are matched with a therapist licensed where they live. The country and state you enter determine which therapists you can be matched with.2
Start BetterHelp’s questionnaire on the English site and choose Spanish at the language question. The link applies 20% off your first month.

Does BetterHelp offer therapy in Spanish?
Yes, BetterHelp offers therapy in Spanish in the US. During our browser check on September 28, 2026, we selected the United States and Texas. Near the end of the questionnaire, a dropdown asked for the preferred therapy language, with English selected by default. Choosing Spanish brought up no warning. The next screen asked how we wanted to pay. Spanish remained an option when we changed the state to Wyoming.
BetterHelp’s public therapist directory also has a Language filter. The Texas page offered English, Spanish and Yoruba. Selecting Spanish showed 14 therapists on the first page, all licensed in Texas. Six of their short bios mentioned offering sessions in Spanish or being bilingual, and one was partly written in Spanish. Without the filter, the page showed one mention of Spanish.3
BetterHelp does not publish a total count of US therapists who speak Spanish or explain what happens when none is available in your state. Selecting Spanish does not guarantee a match. Check your state’s directory with the Language filter before signing up.
As a therapist, I would encourage someone seeking care in Spanish to ask whether the clinician can conduct full sessions in that language. You should feel comfortable describing your concerns and asking questions without being expected to switch to English.
How to get a therapist who speaks Spanish on BetterHelp
The language question appears near the end of the US questionnaire. Keep the website in English as you work through it. These were the steps in September 2026:
- Open BetterHelp’s signup and choose Individual therapy.
- Select United States, then your state.
- Answer the background and mood questions. These include age, gender identity, past therapy and standard depression questions.
- At “How do you prefer to communicate with your therapist?”, choose messaging, phone, video or Not sure yet.
- At “Are there any specific preferences for your therapist?”, add any gender, age or LGBTQ+ preference.
- At “What is your preferred therapy language?”, change English to Spanish.
- Choose whether to pay out of pocket or use insurance, then create your account.
BetterHelp says matching can take as little as 24 to 48 hours. You can switch therapists at any time without an extra charge.4 If the first match does not meet your language needs, ask to switch and restate your preference for Spanish. Our unofficial BetterHelp FAQ explains more about matching and billing.
BetterHelp en español and its message about Spain
The globe icon in BetterHelp’s footer switches the website to Español at betterhelp.com/es. This version uses the Spanish of Spain. Its questionnaire asks for your therapy language immediately after your country, with Español and Inglés as the two options.
If you select the United States or Mexico and choose Español, a box titled “¿Cambiar a España?” appears. It says, “Actualmente, los psicólogos que hablan español solo están disponibles en España.” This means psychologists who speak Spanish are currently available only in Spain.1
That message applies to the Spain service. The English signup for US users accepts Spanish as a therapy language. If you live in the US, switch the website back to English and sign up there.
Which languages does BetterHelp offer?
On September 28, 2026, the US signup dropdown listed 12 therapy languages: American Sign Language, Central Khmer, English, Hausa, Igbo, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Twi, Urdu and Yoruba.
The website language is a separate setting. BetterHelp’s footer offers Deutsch, English, Español and Français. Its iPhone app lists English, Dutch, French, German and Spanish. Reading the website in Spanish does not set Spanish as your therapy language.
The therapy language dropdown allows one selection. If you are bilingual, choose the language you would prefer to use in sessions. A Trustpilot reviewer in March 2024 asked BetterHelp to allow more than one language.
What does BetterHelp cost in the US and Spain?
BetterHelp does not publish an extra charge for a therapist who speaks Spanish. The language question comes before payment, and no price appears at that step. Preferences and therapist availability are among the factors BetterHelp uses to set prices, so your quote may differ. Your card is not charged until you are matched with a licensed therapist.5
| Where you live | Price | Billing and notes |

If you live in the US, want therapy in Spanish and prefer to pay by the week, start with BetterHelp’s questionnaire.
BetterHelp in Spain
BetterHelp España uses the website in Spanish. Selecting Spain as your country and Español as your therapy language allows the questionnaire to continue to the next question.
Therapists in this service are psychologists. According to BetterHelp’s Spanish FAQ, each holds a relevant degree and the Máster en Psicología General Sanitaria, a professional habilitation or the PIR. Each also has at least 3 years of experience and is registered with their regional Colegio Oficial de Psicólogos.6 BetterHelp’s terms describe the service in Spain as aimed at preventing and treating mental health disorders.2
BetterHelp in Mexico and the rest of Latin America
Mexico appears among the 250 countries and territories in BetterHelp’s country dropdown, along with Colombia, Argentina and Chile. BetterHelp does not name Mexico among the countries it operates in. It also does not publish a price for Mexico or list therapists licensed in Mexico.
In the signup on the website in Spanish, selecting Mexico and Español brings up the message about Spain described above. Choosing Inglés instead prompts you to switch to the English website because therapists in your area may speak English.1
An American living in Mexico posted a Trustpilot review rated five stars in April 2026. They said BetterHelp helped them receive therapy in English, their first language, when they could not find it nearby. BetterHelp does not list a therapy option in Spanish for Mexico.
What users report about language matching
Few of BetterHelp’s 9,697 Trustpilot reviews mention language.7 A search for “spanish” on September 28, 2026 returned one review. In that review, rated one star and posted in January 2026, a US member said their therapist listed English and Spanish but spoke English at a barely conversational level. The member switched therapists immediately. Searches for “español” and “spain” returned no results.
A search for “language” returned 33 reviews. Several positive reviews came from members outside the US who were matched with a therapist who spoke their language. These included a Portuguese speaker in 2025 and a member in Austria in 2024. A reviewer in Spain said in November 2024 that BetterHelp continued offering therapists who did not speak their language, even after they updated their preference.
Forum searches in September 2026 found no recent discussion of therapy in Spanish on BetterHelp.
Other options for therapy in Spanish
Finding care in Spanish can be difficult. A study covered by the American Psychiatric Association in May 2022 found that the share of US mental health facilities offering treatment in Spanish fell 17.8% between 2014 and 2019. That represented a loss of 1,163 facilities while the Hispanic population grew by 5.2 million. The decline occurred in 44 states.8
If you want to meet in person, a local bilingual therapist may be an option. BetterHelp does not offer appointments in person.
For US readers who want to use insurance, two partners offer language filters:
- Grow Therapy lets you search by language and insurance. Its Houston page lists 186 therapists who speak Spanish, all accepting new clients, with video and office appointments available.9
- Rula has a Language filter in its therapy and psychiatry directories. It operates only in the US.
Brightside offers Language Services for therapy and psychiatry appointments. An interpreter joins video sessions to translate in real time, and messages are also translated.10 Brightside offers Spanish through an interpreter only. It accepts Medicare, Medicaid and major insurance plans. Our Brightside vs BetterHelp comparison explains more about the two services.
Using BetterHelp while traveling abroad
BetterHelp does not publish a policy about sessions during travel. Its terms say members are matched with therapists based on where they live and that therapists must be licensed in every place they choose to serve.2 BetterHelp’s Spanish blog says the service can be used from Spain and other countries, with care continuing after a move.11
You can access your account and messages wherever you have internet. Your therapist is licensed where you live, so tell them about travel plans and ask whether sessions can continue while you are away.
On Trustpilot, 59 reviews mention travel. Members who travel often value being able to meet with their therapist from different places. Others report being charged during vacations, including a month when they attended only one or two sessions. One member in 2025 said their therapist agreed to pause the membership during a summer abroad.7
If you live in the US and want therapy in Spanish, sign up through BetterHelp’s English site and choose Spanish at the language question.
