Inclusive Therapists costs between $29 – $119 monthly, depending on the number of practitioners in your practice that will need profiles. All plans include a 90-day free trial. Discounts are available for BIPOC therapists, and free and discounted CE courses are offered. However, the therapist sign-up process is highly selective, and there are no additional practice management features.  Inclusive Therapists earned 3.5 out of 5-stars from our independent review.

Overall, Inclusive Therapists is a fantastic way to help bring mental healthcare to historically marginalized communities and a decent way to boost your business. On top of the client leads and referrals, there are many CE resources, events, and activism opportunities. If you’re passionate about and experienced in social justice-oriented care, Inclusive Therapists is a great directory to join. While Inclusive Therapists has a lot to offer, it’s not the best fit for every provider. If you are looking for a larger, less niche directory, or are on a very tight budget, you may want to consider other options.

If you have a passion for social justice work, Inclusive Therapists is an excellent way to give back to communities that have been historically neglected and abused by the mental health industry. On top of this, it is a niche community with far less competition than larger directories, so it is also an excellent resource for gaining new clients.

Opportunities for Activism, Publishing, and Continuing Education

Being a part of the Inclusive Therapists network offers you the opportunity to participate in opportunities for activism in the field of social justice. Periodically, Inclusive Therapists will send invitations to events focused on advancing social justice in mental health and opportunities to volunteer.

Inclusive Therapists Sign-Up Process & Vetting

Because of Inclusive Therapists’ unique approach, the sign-up process is a bit more selective than what you might be used to seeing in other directories. If you don’t have any experience with social justice-oriented care, you might want to consider seeking more education before applying for a profile, as this is the sort of care that clients will be expecting when they search the directory.

It is worth noting that Inclusive Therapists requires written responses to a few prompts in order to join and the website indicates that vague answers will not be accepted. During the application process, be sure to make your answers as comprehensive as possible.

Some of the questions/prompts in the sign-up process include:

  • Recognition of whose native land you currently reside on (there is an interactive map for this)
  • Ways in which you currently integrate decolonial, anti-oppressive, liberatory praxis into your work
  • Methods you use to integrate racial justice values personally and professionally
  • Ways that you integrate gender and sexuality justice values personally and professionally
  • Values surrounding disability, body, and neurodivergence justice

If you feel that your values align with Inclusive Therapists and you’re ready to apply for a profile, simply visit the Inclusive Therapists sign-up page to get started. Inclusive Therapists Directory – Our Final Verdict

You should consider signing up for Inclusive Therapists Directory if you:

  • Are passionate about helping make mental healthcare more accessible to historically marginalized communities
  • Have experience and knowledge of social justice and liberation-focused care
  • Would like to learn more about providing social justice and liberation-focused care

You should consider looking for an alternative to Inclusive Therapists Directory if you:

  • Are not licensed or your profession is divested from licensure
  • Would not be willing to go through the in-depth application process

Who Is Inclusive Therapists Right For?

Inclusive Therapists is a great directory for social justice and liberation-oriented therapists, as well as any therapist that’s interested in helping people that belong to historically marginalized communities.

Social Justice & Liberation-Oriented Therapists

Inclusive Therapists is seeking therapists that are knowledgeable of systems of therapy involving social justice, liberation, and bringing decolonization ideas to members of the BIPOC and LGBTQ+ communities, and their intersections. These communities have been historically underserved by the mental health system, and unique approaches are critical. If you have experience with this, joining Inclusive Therapists is worth your consideration.

Therapists Looking to Make a Difference for Historically Marginalized Communities

If you have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people that have been historically underrepresented in mental health, then Inclusive Therapists is a great way to continue your work. If you don’t have much training in this area, Inclusive Therapists encourages you to use its educational resources prior to applying.

Who May Want an Alternative to Inclusive Therapists Directory?

While Inclusive Therapists has a lot to offer, it’s not the best fit for every provider. If you are looking for a larger, less niche directory, or are on a very tight budget, you may want to consider other options.

Those Looking for a Larger, Less Niche Directory

Inclusive Therapists is not as popular as some of its competitors in terms of overall user traffic. So by creating a profile, you will not be exposing your practice to nearly as much traffic as you would with something more popular like Psychology Today or Zocdoc.

If you are looking for a larger, less niche directory, Zocdoc is a great choice that markets services to more than just mental health clients. Read more in our Zocdoc review.

Therapists on a Tight Budget

While the price is certainly in line with the competition given what is being offered and there is a generous free trial, Includsive Therapists Directory may not be a good fit if you have a tight budget for marketing and directories.

If you’re in that position, and are looking for a more affordable directory to join, then a free account with TherapyDen may be a better choice.Read more about what is offered in our TherapyDen review.

Inclusive Therapists Vs. Psychology Today

Psychology Today and Inclusive Therapists are quite different. In fact, Inclusive Therapists currently has repeatedly denounced Psychology Today for what Inclusive Therapists says is racist and transphobic publications, cishetereo-normativity, and sensationalizing mental health problems.

Certainly, Psychology Today is a major player in the world of therapist directories, being one of the most popular organizations in the space – with the census of therapy-seekers to match. Given its ubiquity, many therapists have chosen to add Psychology Today to their list of marketing platforms.

The two platforms are almost identical in terms of price, with Psychology Today costing $29.95 and Inclusive Therapists’ costing $29 monthly for one practitioner. However, Psychology Today does offer a telehealth platform built-in but does not offer the CE resources and other benefits offered by Invlusive Therapists.

To learn more about the differences, read our review of Psychology Today.

Inclusive Therapists Vs. TherapyDen

TherapyDen and Inclusive Therapists offer similar services that are focused on inclusivity and accessibility. A basic TherapyDen profile is free to create for any therapist, with premium options available for a $10 – $30 monthly, pay-what-you-can fee, compared to Inclusive Therapists’ set $29 monthly price for individual providers.

TherapyDen is far smaller than Inclusive Therapists, but given that a basic account is free, it’s usually worth the time to create a profile. Both directories have the intention of making mental health more accessible, but Inclusive Therapists is much more stringent in the therapists it will accept on its platform.

To learn more, take a look at our comprehensive review of TherapyDen.

History of Inclusive Therapists

Inclusive Therapists was founded by Melody Li 盈希 in 2019. According to the company’s about page, Melody founded the company after feeling she repeatedly needed to educate her fellow therapists about white supremacy and was consistently faced with pushback.

Inclusive Therapists focuses on empowering therapists to provide exceptional therapeutic services to BIPOC and 2SLGBT+ communities. Clients hailing from marginalized communities receive services at a discounted rate, while Therapists are empowered to provide decolonial, social justice, and liberatory-oriented services.1
