One of the main offerings from ADHD Online is its unique virtual ADHD assessment and diagnostic system. For an upfront fee of $189, patients can complete a detailed questionnaire screening for ADHD and some other disorders, such as binge eating disorder, chronic loneliness, and problematic social media use.
ADHD Online says its ADHD assessment is built on credible, recognized tools like the ASRS-2 (a clinical ADHD assessment), PHQ-9 (depression screener), GAD-7 (anxiety assessment), Bergan’s Scale (measuring social media addiction), and additional screeners for conditions like binge eating disorder and chronic loneliness.
The clinical criteria for attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Health Disorders (DSM-5) is built into the questionnaire as well, so the psychologist that reviews it can see how your current symptoms line up with established diagnostic criteria.1
ADHD Online bases its diagnostics on written responses, which can certainly provide valuable insights to the psychologist who reads them. However, some nuance is inevitably lost when compared to more comprehensive evaluations. That’s why I believe ADHD Online’s model falls short of the depth you’d get from an in-person or even other telehealth setting. Having a provider in front of you to clarify and answer questions is ideal—something ADHD Online lacks.
Nonetheless, this method of ADHD assessment may be ideal for those without access to other options. In-person treatment can be time-consuming, expensive, and hard to find. While ADHD Online may lack some depth, it could be a game-changer for individuals with limited access to care.

Psychiatry
I decided to schedule an appointment with one of ADHD Online’s medication providers. Upon signing up, I noticed a limited selection—just four providers in my area, including two MDs and two nurse practitioners. Of those, only one had a fully detailed bio with information about their background and approach.
Ultimately, my choice came down to scheduling. Only one provider had availability that worked for me, as the others offered weekend or evening sessions—popular options for many, but not feasible for my schedule.
I was able to secure an appointment within a few days of receiving my ADHD diagnosis from the online assessment. The session took place over Zoom, which ADHD Online uses for all telehealth appointments. I joined from my iPhone using my home WiFi. Although I experienced a brief audio issue that required me to leave and rejoin the call, the rest of the session went smoothly.
My session was scheduled for 30 minutes but lasted about 15, during which my prescriber gathered basic information about my background, daily routine, and the symptoms I’d been experiencing. She also asked for vital signs like my height, weight, and blood pressure. While I’ve had more thorough intake sessions in the past, it seemed she primarily relied on the information from my initial assessment.
After reviewing my case, she recommended Adderall—a stimulant medication and federally controlled substance. She addressed my concerns about potential side effects and the risk of dependence, and once I agreed to move forward, she sent the prescription to my local pharmacy.
Ultimately, I chose not to pick up the medication, deciding after further reflection that stimulants weren’t the right fit for me. While the session covered the basics, I found it somewhat lacking in depth. My prescriber didn’t ask about any history of therapy or non-medication strategies I might have tried, nor did she suggest alternatives to medication. I would have appreciated a broader conversation about less intensive ways to manage my symptoms before immediately landing on Adderall.
It’s also worth noting that, according to ADHD Online’s website, medication treatment isn’t available in all states, and stimulant medications are even more restricted—so your location may influence the treatment options your provider can offer.
Therapy & Wellness Coaching
ADHD Online offers therapy with licensed therapists in select states. In areas where therapy isn’t available, the platform provides wellness coaching. In my region, therapy wasn’t an option, and there were only two coaches to choose from—but they offered a wide range of appointment times and dates.
Coaching sessions are conducted via Zoom and are priced similarly to the platform’s medication management services, costing $99 per session. Providers are either licensed therapists or certified wellness coaches, though it’s important to note that the certification process for wellness coaches is less rigorous than for licensed therapists. Coaching is available in all 50 states, while psychotherapy—priced at $220 per session—is limited to just a handful of states.
