Borderline personality disorder (BPD) can result in challenges maintaining healthy relationships, as well as issues with self-esteem, emotional stability, impulsivity, and general functioning. While nothing can take the place of treatment, including psychotherapy and potentially medication, listening to BPD podcasts about the disorder can help provide a sense of community, support, and understanding.

BPD Podcasts About DBT

Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) is one form of treatment for BPD. Essentially, it focuses on teaching mindfulness, interpersonal skills, and emotional regulation. Listening to BPD podcasts about DBT can help people address their symptoms and work on self-acceptance and a willingness to embrace positive change.

1. DBT & Me

Hosts of DBT & Me, Kate and Michelle, are certified mental health therapists in Seattle, WA. Knowing that DBT can help relieve symptoms of depression, stress, anxiety, and BPD, they have dedicated themselves to teaching their listeners, as well as DBT groups in Seattle, about the benefits of this specific kind of therapy. In addition to providing an overall education on DBT, they teach the specific skills you can adopt into your daily life.

2. From Borderline to Beautiful

From Borderline to Beautiful aims to break the prevailing stigma around BPD and spread the good news that this disorder actually has a good prognosis. One topic they focus on is DBT, as well as other forms of treatment; however, they also tackle the tough questions that others in their field may be wary to address. Host, Rose Skeeters, is a licensed therapist and nutrition and mindset coach. Throughout the episodes, she opens up about her own struggles with BPD and bulimia.

BPD Podcasts About Relationships

People with BPD often oscillate between idolizing and devaluing the people they are in relationships with. They may exhibit intense fears of abandonment, have unstable romantic relationships, and struggle to maintain friendships. BPD podcasts that focus on relationships can be constructive, both for people with BPD and the people in their lives.

3. Living in the Third Degree With BPD

This particular borderline personality disorder podcast is all about the host’s experience being married for over 30 years to a wife with BPD. Brad S. talks about what it’s like to raise a family with a BPD mother, as well as the challenges and frustrations that come with loving someone with this disorder. He makes it clear that he doesn’t have any professional mental health expertise, but is instead speaking based on his own experiences, knowledge, and research.

4. My Inner Torch

This BPD podcast provides support and insight to people who are in a relationship with someone with BPD and/or narcissistic personality disorder (NPD). My Inner Torch shares inspiration and personal anecdotes from the host who helps listeners gain more understanding and direction. Please note, this particular podcast is not for those who suffer from BPD, but rather those who are navigating a BPD relationship, or healing from a BPD relationship that wounded them in some way.

5. Bold, Beautiful. Borderline

If you are about to dive into the library of Bold, Beautiful, Borderline episodes, you can expect to find national and international resources for BPD, access to a free support group called SuperFeelers, and a heaping dose of “stigma-smashing.” Hosts Laurie Edmundson and Sara Amundson both have lived experience with BPD and use this shared podcast to talk about how their symptoms ripple out into their relationships, sex lives, careers, and recovery efforts.

Borderline Personality Disorder Podcasts With Personal Stories

This selection of BPD podcasts covers the more personal side of the disorder. Each host shares their own real-life experiences with BPD, describing how it affects them and the people they care about. If you want to hear from someone who really gets it because they have actually been there, these borderline personality podcasts are for you.

6. You And Me And BPD

You and Me and BPD is hosted by Stef, someone who lives with BPD and is on the autism spectrum. Stef shares personal stories and experiences, hoping to provide listeners with a safe space to relate, connect, and feel less alone. With four seasons under its belt, You and Me and BPD covers an expansive list of subjects and topics, including but not limited to the idea of remission (is it real or not?), executive dysfunction, difficulties with diagnosis, and effective treatment.

7. The Good, The Bad & The BPD

Host Tammy Mortland uses humor as an access point to talk about her BPD story. Sometimes, she says, all you can do is laugh at a situation, no matter how lousy. Mortland tells stories about times she has been discriminated against at work, shares frustrations with how she feels misunderstood at times, and even gives advice for how to compassionately break ties and end a relationship with someone with BPD if it becomes toxic or harmful.

8. The Last Symptom

The Last Symptom, hosted by Brian Barnett shares “comprehensive insights on emotional health and emotional unhealth.” Barnett wants people with BPD and other emotional disorders to learn how to step up and acknowledge the effects of their actions, both on themselves and the people around them. One reviewer says that episodes are “packed with practical knowledge and useful and charming [anecdotes] to help illustrate the host’s points.”

9. Back From the Borderline

Mollie Adler hosts Back From the Borderline, which was in the top 1% of most downloaded podcasts on Apple in 2022. She wants her listeners to start thinking of their symptoms as their “saviors,” like alerts or alarms that something in their mind, body, or spirit is out of alignment. She knows there are no quick-fixes or cures to BPD, but Adler wants people like herself to achieve something more than just numbing their feelings. She tackles shame, helps heal old wounds, and guides people to create their own spiritual practice.

Continue Your BPD Journey With Therapy

Living with BPD can be a challenge, but your life can still have purpose and meaning. Understand and utilize different kinds of therapy, medication, and self-care techniques to find a level of balance within yourself and in your relationships. While the aforementioned BPD podcasts are useful, they should not be a substitute for actual therapy. When you’re ready to find a DBT therapist, consider using an online therapist directory to find the best online therapy options.
