Rating of Glo Yoga App
I have dedicated a considerable amount of time and attention personally using and reviewing each yoga app to ensure that consumers are getting the information they need to make confident purchases. I’m a trained yoga instructor and have been practicing and studying yoga for over 20 years, which has helped me identify the most important elements that should be available in each app. While Glo could use some upgrades in their interface design, it checks almost every other box in our scoring criteria, making it one of the best yoga apps on the market.
Pros & Cons of the Glo App
Glo is a fitness app that allows you to move, meditate, and learn from skilled and experienced instructors. While its main feature is yoga, Glo offers many other workouts and allows you to easily find and save your favorite classes. Unfortunately, if you close the mobile app or get a phone call during a pre-recorded class, the video starts over again instead of saving your spot.
How to Sign Up for Glo
You can sign up for a Glo membership by going to their website or downloading the Glo yoga app through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. You can also download Glo on Amazon, Apple TV, and Roku.
What Is Glo?
The Glo yoga app is an excellent resource for yoga classes, guided meditations, and other fitness classes like pilates, barre, and HIIT (High-Intensity Interval Training). Glo makes it easy to set goals and personalize your yoga practice. A Glo subscription costs $23.99 monthly or $244.99 annually and includes a seven-day free trial.
Glo is a very user-friendly app that is designed for beginners as well as advanced yogis. When you first sign up for Glo, you’ll be asked questions about your goals, experience level, and the yoga styles you’re interested in trying. You will also be able to select which type of teacher you want with choices like inspiring, challenging, or playful. As you build your yoga practice, you can adjust these settings and learn more about your options, which is why Glo earned 5 out of 5 stars in our Personalization category in our scoring criteria for yoga apps.
Glo offers a variety of yoga disciplines such as Ashtanga, Hatha, and Kundalini. You can also set filters like duration, experience level, intensity, teacher, or specific body parts to help narrow your search and customize your experience. Glo has expert instructors that are trained and certified in various backgrounds in yoga and fitness. You can find live and pre-recorded classes and download classes to access when you’re offline.
There are also hundreds of guided meditations to choose from, with sessions that range from two-minutes to 60-minutes. You can find mindfulness exercises to target specific needs, like practicing breathwork, relieving stress, diffusing anger, or enhancing sleep. Glo also has a section dedicated to education where you can learn about different yoga-inspired topics and find tutorials on deepening your practice.
Glo makes it easy to commit to a practice at home with the tools in your library. You can save your favorite classes and teachers and set up your future class schedule. You can also create programs to help you work on long-term goals. Similar to Yoga International, the Glo app, website, and TV channel all sync together so you can track your progress and build your library across all your devices.
Who Is Glo Right For?
Glo is an excellent fitness resource and a perfect app for yogis and fitness enthusiasts who want to build an at-home practice. If you want to keep your workouts fresh, have access to live classes, and are ready to set long-term goals, the Glo app is a great option.
You Want to Keep Workouts Fresh
Glo features multiple types of exercises, like HIIT, barre, and pilates, which is why it earned 5 out of 5 stars for the “Extra Resources and Features” category. It’s a terrific app for those who want to switch things up and try different classes over time. Having various workout options helps avoid burnout with yoga and keeps things fresh.
You Want Live Classes
One of Glo’s coolest features are the live classes offered. Even though you’re practicing at home, there’s an exciting energy you feel when you join an instructor for a live class. While those participating in the live class aren’t on camera, the number of participants is displayed on the screen as you collectively go through a class together. Live classes are great for those who want a gym class vibe without actually going to a gym.
You Want to Set Long-Term Goals
Glo makes it easy to set long-term goals and commit to a schedule. You can choose to follow one of the pre-made paths, which guides you through a curated program. Or you can go to your library and create a personalized weekly or monthly schedule to help yourself stay organized and committed to your goals.
Who May Want an Alternative to Glo?
Glo is an appealing yoga app for many reasons, but it may not be the best fit for everyone. If you’re a committed yogi who’s not interested in other types of workouts or you’d like the option of one-on-one coaching, there are alternatives for you to try.
You Just Want to Focus on Yoga
If you are not interested in various workout styles like HIIT or pilates and want to only focus on yoga, Glo may not be a good fit for you. For instance, the Find What Feels Good – Yoga With Adriene app is a great alternative for those who just want to work on their yoga practice with an engaging and knowledgeable instructor. To learn more, check out our Find What Feels Good review.
You Want One-on-One Coaching Option
If you’re interested in communicating with a live yoga teacher to ask questions, modify your practice, or just have a more intimate experience, Yoga International would be an excellent option for you. They offer one-on-one yoga coaching sessions with their Premium Plan, but it is one of the more expensive options costing $499 a year. To learn more, check out our Yoga International review.
What Are Users Saying About the Glo App?
Glo has a 4.9-star rating from 27.9K reviews in the Apple App Store and a 3.9-star rating from 10K reviews in the Google Play Store. Many positive reviews mentioned the quality of the teachers and the variety of options, while multiple Android users mentioned the videos freezing and other glitches.
Love the Teachers
It’s clear that many users had the same experience I did with the instructors because tons of positive Glo reviews mention the quality of the teachers. They’re knowledgeable, skilled, and it feels like they talk directly to you throughout a class. The teachers I had didn’t make me feel intimidated by postures that were out of my reach. They motivated me to stick with a class even though it was challenging.
Great Options for Beginners and Advanced Yogis
I saw several positive reviews that mentioned the variety of options, specifically the classes for both beginners and advanced yogis. It’s great that they have classes designed for users at every level, but it’s also beneficial for those who want to build an at-home practice and use an app that promotes progress.
Doesn’t Save When App Closes
A large complaint of the Glo app I found was that there is no way to save your spot if you’re in the middle of a fitness class or meditation. This was especially an issue if you have to leave the app to accept a call or text. The class starts over again from the beginning, and you have to figure out where you left off.
App Can Be Glitchy on Android
Many Android users wrote negative reviews about the app crashing, videos freezing, and not being able to find classes. I did see that the Glo developers responded to many of these complaints in an attempt to fix the bugs. Because of the reported bugs and the app not saving your spot in a class as mentioned above, Glo received 3.5 out of 5 stars in our “Interface Design and User Experience” category on our scoring criteria.

Glo Yoga App Key Features
Glo is a yoga and fitness app that provides live and pre-recorded classes taught by expert instructors. It’s easy to use and a terrific option for both beginners and advanced users. A Glo subscription costs $23.99 monthly or $244.99 annually and provides a seven-day free trial with a purchase of either plan.
Yoga Classes and Teachers
Glo does a wonderful job of tailoring the user experience from the start. Once you log in, you’ll answer a few questions to create a customized at-home practice. You can choose what you’d like to focus on, such as strength, flexibility, or enhancing sleep. You’ll also pick your preferred yoga style and teacher. I thought the questions about teacher preferences were extra special. Some may prefer challenging and motivating teachers, while others may want a teacher who’s more playful and creative with their instruction.
The Glo yoga teachers do a great job at making you feel like you’re the only person in their class. They provide clear and precise directives to help you get through a class without having to constantly look up at your screen. A few of my teachers also discussed intention, mindfulness, and shared relevant stories throughout the practice. These discussions helped me focus on the present and avoid disrupting thoughts. It also helped me learn more about their personality and teaching styles.
Meditation, Pilates, Fitness, and Education
In addition to yoga, Glo has guided meditations, pilates, and several other fitness classes. While I tend to focus on yoga, it’s nice to know that various options are available if I get burned out on my yoga practice. I truly enjoyed the meditations, which you can use for falling asleep, reducing stress, or letting go of negative emotions. I was also impressed by the range of topics in the educational section. You can find everything from a ten-minute talk on how to effectively set boundaries to a 40-day program on chakras. All of these extras are included in your membership.
Personalize Your Practice
Glo’s personal recommendations, library tools, and filter settings are super helpful when building your at-home practice. The library feature allows you to save a class, tag favorite classes and teachers, create a class schedule, join programs, and curate your own collections of classes with similar themes. Each class has a notes section, so you can jot down reactions or thoughts after you finish a video. If you’d like to feel more connected to the Glo yoga community, you can follow them on Instagram, FaceBook, and YouTube.
History of Glo
Glo was founded by brothers Ryan and Derik Mills in 2008 in Santa Monica, CA. In an article for Medium, Derik Mills explained that his intention for Glo remains the same as it was a decade ago –to create tools and experiences that allow users to reach their true potential and to help people expand on their personal meanings of yoga. 1
Glo vs. Yoga International
Glo and Yoga International are similar yoga apps in that they both offer a wide variety of unlimited on-demand yoga classes with exceptional teachers. You can customize your practice and work towards personal goals. If you’re hoping to deepen your yoga practice, you can make that happen with either one of these apps. Yoga International earned an overall score of 4 out of 5 stars from our independent review.
However, Glo provides more fitness classes, like pilates and HIIT, while Yoga International focuses primarily on yoga. Glo has more options and a better user experience, and that’s reflected in the price. Glo is a bit more expensive than Yoga International, costing $23.99 monthly and $244.99 annually. A Yoga International membership costs $19.99 monthly and $199.99 annually. Yoga International does have a Premium plan for $499 a year, but I would only suggest that option to advanced yogis and yoga teachers. To learn more, check out our in-depth Yoga International review.
Free 7 Day Trial of Yoga International
Glo vs. Gaia
Glo and Gaia are both popular apps that offer yoga classes, guided meditations, and educational features, but they have some fundamental differences. As mentioned above, Glo is an all-encompassing fitness app that showcases yoga at the forefront of many other fitness options, while Gaia is more focused on yoga and promoting a yogic lifestyle. Gaia also comes with a streaming service that offers original TV series, films, and documentaries on conscious living. Gaia scored an overall rating of 4 out of 5 stars from our independent review.
For those who are only interested in bringing live and pre-recorded yoga and fitness classes into their home, Glo is a better option. If you’re hoping to find yoga-inspired entertainment as well as yoga classes, Gaia would be a better choice. Gaia costs $11.99 for a monthly plan, $99 for an annual plan, and $299 for Events+, which is their premium service featuring live workshops and lectures.
