One of the most important aspects of addiction recovery is support. Whether you’re attending AA meetings or looking at other avenues of recovery, these addiction podcasts offer a range of experiences, advice, and community to help aid you on your recovery journey.

A Sober Girl’s Guide1. A Sober Girl’s Guide

Jessica Jeboult was a well-known DJ in the heart of Los Angeles, spinning records at some of the top clubs with the biggest names. This “rockstar” life, however, felt lackluster. She turned to alcohol to treat her depression and anxiety before finally wanting a real change.

A Sober Girl’s Guide is a podcast on mental health, spirituality, and wellness in recovery. “I went through my life with a fine-tooth comb and eliminated all the bullshit my ego was doing to be cool and traded it for things that made my soul sing. Just as you have to plan for success. You also have to plan for happiness,” Jessica writes on her website.

Sober Speak2. Sober Speak

Sober Speak is designed to be a companion to the Alcoholics Anonymous 12-step program, though they aren’t affiliated with AA. Guests share their experiences with the program and the challenges they faced along the way. With it, they hope to share strength, experience, and hope.

“Having such a podcast to help me gain knowledge truly has helped me accept that I truly am powerless over alcohol (along with the big book).” one reviewer writes. “This podcast is my meeting between meetings and so much more.”

Recovery Happy Hour Podcast 3. Recovery Happy Hour Podcast

Like many who struggle with alcohol, Tricia Lewis was afraid that if she quit drinking she’d miss out on all life had to offer. “The fear of missing out is what keeps so many of us from ever giving it a solid chance. That fear is the biggest liar and it wasted so much of my time,” she shares.

Tricia hopes her podcast will inspire you and help you navigate your relationship with alcohol, whether you consider yourself an alcoholic or not. Every episode features a different interview, sharing stories of recovery, mental health, and “the gray area of alcohol abuse.”

The ODAAT Podcast 4. The ODAAT Podcast

Podcast host Arlina Allen knows recovery isn’t about giant changes. Rather, it’s about getting through it one day at a time. She struggled with alcohol abuse for years, damaging her career, relationships, and health before realizing things needed to change.

This podcast is another series of inspirational stories like others on this list, but finding that community and seeing examples of others living a life of recovery is the kind of encouragement you just might need.

The Bubble Hour5. The Bubble Hour

Jean McCarthy hosts this alcohol addiction recovery podcast to give space for those recovering from alcohol abuse. If she sounds familiar, it’s because she’s also the author of UnPickled, the recovery blog we shared previously. McCarthy’s been sober since 2011 and uses her platform to provide healing for those in recovery as well as resources for those wanting to live alcohol-free lifestyles.

Each episode of the Bubble Hour features a different story of people sharing what they fill their lives with now that alcohol is out of the equation. “The “Bubble” is what we use to stay safe and happy in sobriety (especially early sobriety). We surround ourselves with things and people who bring us joy, laughter, and comfort. What do you put in YOUR bubble?”

If you’re struggling with someone you love who is addicted to alcohol or drugs, this self-care podcast is specifically built for you. Andrea Seydel certainly knows the feeling: her boyfriend was hiding a drug addiction for years before she finally found peace. Now as a life coach and author with a bachelor’s degree in psychology, she uses her book and podcast of the same name to share self-care tips and compassion to others going through the same thing.

“You need to know you are not alone, and you are not going crazy! What you are going through is hard. We often put on a brave face, but secretly we are going through a private HELL full of manipulation, lies, and uncertainty,” she writes.

Battling Opioids 10. Battling Opioids

This public-media-produced podcast dives deep into Pennsylvania’s opioid abuse issue, where the state currently has the highest overdose rate. Though news-focused and mostly about the state’s unique struggles, as they state on their site, “Rural and urban, rich and poor, the opioid crisis affects all of us.”

Not only are they working to shed light on Pennsylvania’s ongoing crisis, but to reduce stigma surrounding addiction and provide resources for those struggling. If you want to better understand the opioid crisis on a national level, this is a good place to start.

From Sobriety to Recovery13. From Sobriety to Recovery

Jesse Mogle isn’t just another life coach- he’s in addiction recovery himself. He spent years addicted to drugs and alcohol, letting his fear of failure tie him to his destructive habits. While he’s made the step onwards sobriety, he argues it’s not an interchangeable word for recovery.

“Recovery is the act of diving inward and discovering what events, thoughts, and feelings led to the actions that resulted in the addictive behavior,” he writes. This is his podcast’s mission: to help listeners better understand what got them there in the first place.
