Preview Our Relationship:
Our Relationship is a 4–6 week online program geared towards couples who want to strengthen their relationship and build healthier communication styles. Users can select from several programs, including one for couples, individuals, or military and veteran spouses. Our Relationship serves both heterosexual and LGBTQ+ couples. Prices for the Our Relationship program range from $79 – $249 and are a one-time fee with no free trial currently available.
Our Relationship also offers free services to active-duty, Guard, and Reserve service members; visit military.ourrelationship.com for more information. Likewise, low-income and veteran couples can participate in free services through a research study and can learn more at free.ourrelationship.com.
Our Relationship would best serve couples who want an easy-to-follow program for improving their relationships, couples who want a less intensive program than traditional therapy, and those without access to in-person couples care.
While Our Relationship serves both couples and individuals, there are some groups that the program would not be well suited for. Those experiencing domestic violence or severe mental health symptoms should seek care elsewhere. Couples seeking more formal couples therapy would be best served by platforms such as Regain or Talkspace for Couples. For even more options for couples to explore, read our guide on the best online marriage & couples therapy options.

Signing Up
To thoroughly test Our Relationship, my husband and I completed the coach-guided program. The pacing was well-structured, with modules and exercises available outside of coaching that we later discussed in a supportive setting.
Signing up was simple and took about 10 minutes on mobile. Users select a program type—heterosexual couples, LGBTQ+ couples, military/veteran spouses, or individuals—then choose from three structures: fully coach-guided, hybrid with an orientation session, or self-guided. After entering demographic details, partners receive an email invite, accept the terms, and complete a welcome activity to begin.
Once setup is complete, users schedule their first coaching session or start immediately if self-guided. Coaching slots were readily available within a week, though my spouse and I were disappointed that coach credentials weren’t easily accessible. We chose a Zoom session, which worked smoothly. At the start, couples are asked for permission to record sessions for feedback and supervision, with the option to decline.
Coach Matching
Users of Our Relationship do have the option to select their own coach after signing up and completing the welcome activity. Users can select their own coach and can swap at any time by emailing support if they feel a coach is not a good fit. It should be noted that the coaches at Our Relationship are not required to be licensed and are all trained by Our Relationship in-house, with most coaches being psychology doctoral students or those with a master’s degree in psychology.
When selecting a coach and scheduling the first meeting, users have access to all open slots for each coach. My husband and I were able to schedule our first session one week after signing up, with no other activities in the app due before the call.
Coaching Sessions
Our Relationship uses the O.U.R.S. acronym for their couples program to indicate which phase of the program couples are in. The acronym stands for Observe, Understand, Respond, and Strengthen. Each phase has the couple complete particular exercises about their relationship and communication styles.
When testing Our Relationship, we attended all scheduled coaching sessions. My husband and I started with a quick 15-minute introduction video chat, where we shared our relationship dynamics and goals with our coach.
Our second session focused on identifying our core issue. Beforehand, we completed the Observe phase, taking relationship assessments on conflict resolution, satisfaction, and communication. For our core issues, my husband chose physical activity, while I picked procrastination with chores. Our coach helped us merge them into one issue: time management, balancing exercise, self-care, and household tasks.
Next, in the Understand phase, we identified emotions—both surface-level and hidden. A unique exercise had us walking through a module together in real-time, leading to an insightful conversation. At our next session, we reflected on the experience, and our coach helped us dig deeper into emotions and communication patterns.
The final Respond phase focused on setting actionable goals, factoring in communication styles, personalities, and past experiences. This was our favorite session, as we brainstormed realistic ways to improve time management and overall lifestyle.
We both got a lot from the sessions, and our coach kept discussions meaningful and on track. After completing the program, we set a follow-up to assess progress. Overall, we were pleased with Our Relationship and felt it was especially useful for couples looking to tackle a core issue together.
The Our Relationship program takes around 4–6 weeks for couples to complete, with around 8–10 hours of content. The program is set to be either self-guided or with a coach, with the coaching offering couples more support and weekly video sessions. Regardless of which program couples choose to participate in, they will have access to all content for 6 months after signing up.
Our Relationship costs a one-time fee of $79 – $249, depending on the program and structure chosen. Six different plans are available, including those for individuals and couples and the option for coaching.

Our Relationship serves both couples and individuals 18 years and older, and is a safe space for LGBTQ+ couples who are looking for care that affirms their experiences. The app is available in all 50 United States and is on both the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store. Our Relationship is a great option for couples who want to work on core issues of their relationship and strengthen the bond between them. Military and veteran spouses will also be well served with Our Relationship.
User Reviews
Overall, Our Relationship reviews are generally positive, though there are only a few reviews on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. Reviews state that the app helped many users improve on and sometimes save their relationships.

- Positive reviews from the Apple App Store include users stating that the program was not intimidating, as traditional therapy can be. Users also stated that the program helped them considerably when it came to communication.
- Negative reviews from the Apple App Store are scarce. Keep in mind that, while none of the reviews stated any complaints, the number of reviews is low and may not be truly reflective of how users feel.
Reviews from Google Play Store | 4.6 out of 5 stars | 33 reviews
- Positive reviews from the Google Play Store include users feeling that the program taught them and their partners valuable skills and tools for improving their relationships. Positive reviews also cite the coaching option as very beneficial.
- Negative reviews from the Google Play Store include users stating that the app would often crash and that the useability of the text fields for answers could be improved.
Alternatives & Competitors
While Our Relationship is a great resource for many couples, others will be better served elsewhere. One of our favorite couples therapy programs is Our Ritual, though they do not accept insurance. Those looking for a supplemental app to use alongside couples therapy will find the Lasting App or Relationship Hero useful, whereas couples looking for traditional couples therapy will be best served by Talkspace for Couples or Regain.
Best Therapy-Supported Program - Our Ritual
Our Ritual and Our Relationship both provide structured relationship support but cater to different needs. While both platforms offer guided programs, Our Ritual pairs couples with a licensed therapist, whereas Our Relationship provides coaching from non-licensed professionals.
They also differ in pricing. Our Relationship follows a one-time fee model ranging from $79 to $249, making it a more budget-friendly choice for couples seeking a structured program with a clear start and finish. In contrast, Our Ritual operates on a monthly subscription costing $128 to $310, appealing to those who prefer ongoing guidance, journaling tools, and additional self-improvement resources.

Pros & Cons
- All relationship experts are licensed professionals
- 14-day money-back guarantee if not satisfied
- No free trial
- Users can’t select their own therapist
- Does not accept insurance
Best Couples App - Lasting App
Our Relationship and the Lasting App are both self-guided programs for couples. Each is very user-friendly and can quickly and easily add a spouse or partner. The Lasting App features “Series” on topics such as sex and intimacy, communication, and parenting, that users complete with readings, journaling, and quizzes. Our Relationship has a more structured approach and offers users live coaching sessions.
Since Lasting is an app-based platform, it is more affordable on a monthly basis, costing $39.99 per month. In contrast, Our Relationship operates on a one-time payment model, with costs ranging from $79 to $249, depending on the selected package. While Lasting provides ongoing access through a subscription, Our Relationship offers a structured program with a clear start and end, eliminating the need for recurring payments.

Pros & Cons
- Educational materials are easy to understand
- Zoom workshops are led by licensed therapists or counselors
- Learning modules can be done independently of your partner
- Adding your spouse or partner to your account is straightforward and not hard to do
- Perfect companion to in-person or online couples counseling
- No messaging or live therapy options
- The AI bot is basically a guided journal and does not respond to you the way other AI bots do
Best Couples Coaching - Relationship Hero
Both Our Relationship and Relationship Hero are online platforms for couples. Relationship Hero offers couples coaching, much like Our Relationship. However, Our Relationship does have plans without coaches and offers the couples a more self-guided structure. Both Our Relationship and Relationship Hero are great options for couples who want relationship coaching but who are not looking for traditional therapy.
They also differ in price, with Relationship Hero coaching sessions ranging from $100 to $350, while Our Relationship charges a one-time fee of $79 to $249, depending on the package selected.
To learn more, read our full Relationship Hero review.
Pros & Cons
- Over one hundred relationship coaches to choose from
- Option to choose a coach based on price point
- Zoom sessions can be accessed in the app or mobile site
- Does not accept insurance
- Exact cost of coaching isn’t available upon registration
- Coaches are not licensed therapists
Best for Insurance - Talkspace for Couples
Both Our Relationship and Talkspace for Couples provide professional support for relationships, but they serve different needs. Talkspace follows a traditional therapy model, pairing couples with a licensed therapist for structured sessions, similar to in-person couples counseling. In contrast, Our Relationship offers a more holistic approach, combining coaching, journaling, guided exercises, and relationship insights alongside professional support.
One key difference is cost. Talkspace accepts insurance, making therapy more affordable for many couples (though coverage for couples therapy may vary by plan and provider). While Talkspace is charged on a monthly subscription basis, Our Relationship has a one-time fee ranging between $79 – $249.
Those seeking direct, licensed therapy may prefer Talkspace, whereas those looking for a blend of coaching, self-reflection, and structured relationship-building exercises may find Our Relationship to be a better fit.
To learn more, read our full Talkspace for Couples review.
Pros & Cons
- Makes couples therapy easy and convenient to access compared to in-person sessions
- Couples don’t have to be in the same place to attend sessions
- Live workshops and self-assessment tools are also available for free
- Couples can chat with their therapist in between sessions
- Those in non-romantic relationships are welcome to register, including co-workers, friends, and siblings
- Can’t purchase individual sessions
- All session credits expire at the end of the month whether or not a session was completed
- User reports of therapists being often unreliable and frequently canceling appointments or leaving them unconfirmed
- App can be glitchy
Best Cash-Pay Couples Therapy - Regain
Our Relationship and Regain are both valid options for couples seeking to improve their relationships. While Our Relationship is a self-guided program with the option for coaching, Regain is traditional couples therapy.
Regain does not accept insurance, so cash pay is the only option. When we tried Regain, we were impressed by the affordability and access to appointments. Costs also differ between the two, with Our Relationship being a one-time fee of $79 to $249, depending on the plan purchased. Regain costs a monthly subscription of $260 – $400 monthly depending on area and therapist demand, but does offer weekly sessions with a licensed therapist
