Several users mentioned that Bearable will suddenly freeze, force quit, or will become very laggy as they are tracking their day. Fortunately, Bearable is quick to respond to these user reviews and advises them to connect to customer support at [email protected]. I have not had any problems with Bearable freezing or lagging. The app works exactly the way I want it to each time without fail.

In 2020, Bearable was in its Beta testing form and was offered for free. Original users of the app became upset that it changed and started requiring a monthly or annual fee. Bearable has responded to quite a few of these user reviews to explain that in order to grow as an app and continue to offer such a great service, they had to monetize. Currently, Bearable is exploring whether or not a lifetime subscription option would be a possibility.

Some of the middle-of-the-road reviews mentioned that Bearable has too many options. Several people mentioned that they felt overwhelmed by the choices and that it also took them a long time (more than 10 minutes) to log everything.
When I first downloaded Bearable, I also felt slightly overwhelmed by how many options there were. I suggest moving any factors that you don’t need to track to make it easier to navigate. You can really tailor Bearable to be the kind of tracking app you need it to be, which is really cool considering many of the customization options are free.

You can log your moods, physical or emotional symptoms, activities, medications, and much more. After a week of tracking, you will be able to view a report of your average mood and symptom scores, as well as what factors contributed to these scores.
Customize What You Track
Bearable lets you track so many different things that it can be really easy to get overwhelmed when you first start with the app. During the signup process, you are given a lot of options for what you can track, called health outcomes (moods, symptoms, etc.) and health factors (sleep, food, etc.). There are also additional health factors you can track in categories like social media, nutrition, hobbies, activity, and many more.
A mistake I made was selecting everything that was offered rather than focusing on things that I knew were affecting my anxiety. Luckily, you can subtract anything easily through the edit function at the bottom of your home screen. This also works for additional health factors you are tracking – easily add ones you want to focus on and delete ones that you do not need.
The customization process in Bearable is pretty straightforward and I highly recommend taking advantage of it as much as possible.
Insights & Weekly Reports
On the Insights tab, you will have a lot of data to view regarding your moods and symptoms. Some of the more advanced graphs and statistics are only available in the premium version, but you will still be able to see some helpful information in the free version.
Each week, you will get a report that tells you your average mood and symptoms scores for the week, as well as sleep and energy scores if you are tracking those. You will also be able to view any health factors you tracked that week and how many times you selected certain factors in that week. The more you track, the more you will be able to see patterns emerge about what affects your moods and symptoms.
Export Your Data
Exporting a copy of your data from Bearable could be important if you are currently under the care of a licensed therapist or psychiatrist. In order to export, simply go to the “More” tab and scroll down to the section called “My Data.” Click “Export my data” and choose which date range you want to export, three months, six months, or all time. You will be able to save a CSV copy, which can be easily viewed in a spreadsheet, to your phone or a cloud service of your choice.

The biggest feature that is unlocked in the premium version is all of the Insights, which are statistics, graphs, and detailed reports. These insights include your moods, symptoms, sleep, and energy as well as reports like average mood per day, average mood over time, and more.
For someone like me who struggles with mild to moderate anxiety, I didn’t really feel like I needed the extra insights and advanced reports. The insights included in the free version gave me plenty of information about what affected me the most in a given week. However, the graphs and reports could be really helpful to someone who is experiencing new symptoms or struggles and cannot figure out what the cause may be.
Other Unlocked Content
Bearable has features like the ability to passcode protect your app and an extra note section locked behind its paywall. There are other interesting features like creating unlimited routines, unlimited significant events, and adding unlimited favorite foods locked behind the paywall. For me, these are great perks, but not necessarily something I need in a tracking app. Bearable already offers so many different pre-loaded features that I didn’t see the need to add anything else.
Bearable Vs Daylio
Bearable and Daylio may seem like they are very similar, and to a certain extent they are, but Bearable is a more comprehensive tracking app by far. Daylio hinges on the fact that you can complete mood, activity and habit check-ins quickly, but these are not very in-depth.
Bearable can take more time to log moods, symptoms, and other health factors, but it offers users a wider picture of their overall mental health. Both apps offer a really great free version that most people will get by with using just fine. For those that need more advanced statistics and insights, both apps offer premium versions. Daylio costs $23.88 annually and Bearable costs $34.99 annually.

History of The Bearable App
Bearable was launched in 2020 by James Saady. In 2019, he was forced to quit his job due to chronic health conditions and each doctor’s appointment left him deeply frustrated that he couldn’t give his doctors the full picture.1 James first used a spreadsheet to track his symptoms before realizing that it wasn’t quite right.
